TH 350 shifting to early

    I changed my rear end gears last spring from A 2.56 to 3.42 and now my car shifts early at light to part throttle. I ordered A adjustable modulator ,but was wondering if I should try different springs in my governor. I installed A Trans Go reprogramming kit ,and it came with different governor springs and A chart to show the different combinations.I was wondering what I should try.

    An adj. modular is what you need along with a properly adjusted detent cable (it adjusts pressure). The governor is for wot..

    I'm going to put A adjustable modular on tomorrow.I probably should check the adjustment on my detent cable .

    I put A new adjustable modulator on my car today.I adjusted it in all the way,and it helped the shift points A lot.I'm very satisfied with the longer shifts ,and it shifts harder.I put A Trans Go reprogramming kit in it last summer, and it didn't shift very hard just crisp.Now it shifts very strong ,and I like that.

    I took my car for A long drive this evening ,wow that 12$ modulator really changed the shifts.I just love the way it is shifting now.

    That's normal.
    Remember when you change rear gears, especially a big change from 2.56 to 3.42 (almost 1 full revolution) EVERYTHING happens quicker/sooner.
    Rpm rise will be quicker, load on the engine will be less which will result in a higher vacuum reading at any point.
    With a higher vacuum the trans will shift sooner, reason being it thinks you are accelerating very gently/easy.......... high vacuum condition equals early shift:D
    So in essence there was nothing wrong in the first place, unless you just wanted to alter the light throttle shift points.

    I definitely wanted to alter the light throttle shifts. It would shift to 2nd and 3rd as soon as I would take off ,it was that fast at shifting .Now it holds in gear A lot longer ,the way I think it should be shifting .
