Ok Guys and Gals, Official News (hot off the press) EVENT : LONE STAR BUICK WINTER BASH! TIME: 11:00am till the track closes DATE: Saturday - December 3rd 2005 Place: Temple Academy Dragway Cost: $8 Spectate (per person) $20 to Race More info to come. :beer :3gears: :TU:
Sunday? Man, that's gonna rule me out...sigh. :ball: Who's gonna lose 2 seconds to wheelspin off the line in my place?
Aruuhh? Might want to change that "4th" to a "3rd", unless my 'puter's calendar is screwy (which I wouldn't doubt) o No: Saturday?!?!?! Then I'm all over it! WOOHOO!!! Can I bring my new '62 Ranchero? It's got the optional 170-inch six...oughta be good for at least 20, 21 seconds. :Brow:
James you can bring the Ranchero but only buicks can race for the buick $ track money is still available for you and you can park with the oldsmobiles  (do you hear me ben!) Just teasing about parking with them OLDS guys.
Let's see, take the 350 out of the 2NABOT, put the 455 in... take the 170 out of the Ranchero, put the 350 in... hmmumblemumble...2200lbs...320hp...carry the one...mumblemumble - OOO! That'd be through the traps in 11.07 @123mph! Of course, that's assuming the dinky 3-speed and 7.25" rear don't explode in the staging lanes...
Anyone want to trailer my car for me? Math: 455 + small tires + high gas prices = $$$$$ Wonder if it will die in the middle of the track AGAIN this year? Any bets on that?
Heck, go down to a local tire store, and have them put some really tall cheap tires on some cheap steel wheels, and swap when you get there. Or, just switch to "Crooooze Mode", and sliiiiiiiide on down at a lazy 55-60mph. Or, do like I do and just say: "to heck with it, I'd spend this money on something useless otherwise", and put yer foot in it! See you there!
I've got some extra 14" wheels, but it's hard to find cheap tall tires to fit 14's anymore! Anyone got any old bias ply tires sitting around?
If you have not changed anything from last time, then yeah it will likely fall on its face again. Did you try restricting the return line on your fuel pump? Ben
You can count on me to be there for sure! Now, how can I get both of these there at the same time? Hmmmm... I *may* need a volunteer to tow the grill or drive the Riv... :bglasses: We'll see! Phil, can you get me a primo spot up front? Frank
Phil -- Would you mind emailing the track to determine what the entry and race fees would be for that weekend? A friend who is the editor on the South Texas Olds Chapter newsletter wants to put some info about this get together in the newsletter and was asking about the specifics. Thanks!! Ben
I will get back with you on the cost Ben! Also did you see that you had to park with the ranchero....
Nope, haven't tried that. I haven't been back to the track since the last bad showing. Don't have anyone to go to the track with me and don't have a pit crew anymore! ou: Did I say I've got a new fuel pump on it now? My luck it'll be the tank sock. :moonu:
I'm not sure that restricting the return line isn't a bandaid for a bad pump. I'd think you having a new pump oughta make a big difference, and who needs a track to check it out? :Brow: It's not like the car can tell the difference, and from what I remember about the I-35 on-ramps in Denton, there's not much of a difference from a dragstrip. :3gears:
