Tailshaft bushing removal tool

    Anyone have a tool like this shown in pic below need to change mine and don't want to yank the trans. Turbo 350

    Needs to ship to Australia

    You only need to remove the extension housing from the trans to replace the bushing on the bench. You will need to have a new six hole paper gasket or it's an O-ring - can't remember, though. Also a new rear seal will be in order. Timken 5200 will provide both the seal and bushing in one box. Rockauto sells these parts. The tool would be nice to have.

    Never removed the housing before can I get to all 6 bolts laying on my back under the car ? I know it would be much easier to do this on the bench

    Easily. Just have to pull the drive shaft. You'll lose some fluid, be ready for that.

    Its only 4 bolts on a TH350. Raise the rear of the car as much as practical to lose
    less fluid. If your trans has a drain added (like mine), remove a couple quarts first.
    I always put it back at completion, which some recommend against.

    Sometimes the rear of the trans needs to come down a bit, get another jack . Bruce Roe
