    Hi !

This weekend, i replaced all my rear sockets cause the old ones were very rusty (water leak due to worn seals). I handed all the wiring in sheaths, following the same path as before disassembling but I dont know if it's really the original path.

Now I can not mount the rear bumper. Something blocks the installation of the bumper on the last few inches and I think it is this wiring.

You can see my wiring on the pic. Is it right for you ?

    Thanks,

The other side (I'm not sure about the position of the rubbers). I'm waiting for the shop manual, hoping i can find this information.

You do realize that the 70 wiring harness has no cover, that cover started in 72 ,maybe late 71,not 70.

Thanks Bruno so maybe my cover takes up too much space to put the bumper. I will bring him down, hoping it was that.

Yes, wiring looks looks correct except for the conduit. Not sure service manual shows the exact position for the rubber bumpers, but they are about where mine are and my bumper fits without a hitch. May have a wire/conduit getting squished between the pinch weld and the bumper. Also, pinch weld on the right side looks like it is bent down a little (may just be the picture), which might keep rubber from hitting where it is supposed to on the bumper.

Thanks for your advices ! I try again on Thursday, when the weather would be better and I could open the garage door! I can not wait to see my lights working. :)

the rubber "bumpers" on my '72 GS are moved closer to the centre of the trunk lip. No problem.
U require the support/protection?/farther toward the centre. Where u have those pads mounted over the mount brackets would be of no value. Move them 6"-8" inward.

Thank you gstewart ! I found this page from the Shop Manual, online (mine will be delivered tomorrow). So it seems the pads must be placed at the ends of the trunk opening. Just before the turn of the bumper.

if u still have trouble mounting the bumper with the rubbers installed as per the manual, u can always move them in.
I do remember when we started restoration of my '72 GS 2001, and removed the rear bumper, the pads were nowhere near the ends of the trunk.

    You're right gstewart.
For your information, I received the shop manual and the wiring is supposed to go below the lights. It is possible that my sheath is too thick and blocks the bumper. Answer tomorrow! Thanks,

The Buick bible is correct. I was looking at a 72 laying in my yard (which I didn't wire), but I did pull it off a car. My bad. Hope that helps.

    Thank you Dr. Roger !

I put the sheath under the lights and rubber at the places indicated in the manual. The bumper looks perfect now!
