TA Headers, differences in regards to fit?

On my punch list are headers. I tend towards TA products.
Are there any differences in fit / installation space in between:
    1. TA 2012CH (Competition.1 7/8”Primary)
    2. TA 2012SCH (Super Competition. 2” Primary)
    3. TA 2014CHA (Competition. 2” Primary)
I know that the 2014 is for use with Stage2 heads only. I am hoping that because of the missing exhaust runner the pipes are somewhat bend in a tighter radius and closer to the block, resulting in more clearance to suspension / steering.
    Anyone any experience?
My car is a 1970 Skylark w/o air

I do know that the TA shorties are the only headers that fit on the Riv's as there's not enough clearance for longtubes and the X frame of the Rivs get in the way. Probably not the info you're looking for but hey it's header info of some kind:p

I had the 1 7/8 and had some problems (in my '70 4-speed-clutch linkage interference). The friend I sold them to reported some issues too (in a 68 Special), but then said the larger 2" ones fit with no problems.
Hopefully more experienced members will chime in, as all I remember is abandoning the header idea forever and living happily ever after.

I installed new TA 2” Stage 1 headers last winter in my 72 GS. I had them shipped to me so I could install them and make any necessary “adjustments” before sending them off to be coated. They fit perfectly, and no adjustments were needed. Very good quality and fitment!

My 2" TA headers fit in the green car with no modifications needed. They do cause a bit of a headache when trying to remove a trans cross member, but they technically fit ok.

Are these AC or Non-AC cars?
    Thanks

With AC, its not so easy finding headers that would just plop right in.

I have TA 2" Stage 2 headers on my 70 with A/C and they fit without any problems.
Well, the only problem is Stage 2's don't allow you to bolt the a/c bracket to the head, but that's a problem with the head not the header. So my car still has the box on the firewall but not the compressor on the engine. But having a/c didn't cause any interference...

    Was I that confusing??

    Sorry....I'll try again.

The car has a/c, still has the box at the firewall that contains a/c and heater core.
The headers clear that area just fine.
Where the compressor mounts to the engine the bracket uses the 3 holes at the front of the head and one bolt on the exhaust side of the head. The Stage 2 heads do not allow you to use the original a/c bracket without modifying it or fabricating something. I did neither and left the compressor off so the car is an a/c car with non-functioning a/c. Not because of the headers, but because of the heads.

Hopefully this explanation will further muddy the waters! ;)

Well you didn't say you also had Stage 2 heads as well as the stage 2 headers.....Will the stage 2 headers bolt onto the stock heads?

No Manny, the Stage 2 heads were a new design that took the dogleg out of the exhaust port. The Stage 2 package required headers because stock manifolds wouldn't work. Once you see a set you realize there is no mistaking Stage 2 heads for factory iron heads. They are also a round or "D" port where the regular heads have a rectangular port.

From the TA catalog... It's not the best angle to see the difference but on the Stage 2's it's like the whole exhaust portion of the head has been shaved off...

I had clearance issues with 1 7/8" on driver side of my 69 GS 400, I didn't have time to finish the install I pulled them out.

On my 70 GS, I bought 1 7/8 header for a Riv - there was interference on steering shaft. I was talking with JW about it, he informed me the housing for the steering column can be moved over a little (don’t recall how much) but it was enough to clear steering shaft and the header. Remove the bolts that hold the steering column to firewall, adjust and retighten. Worked well, took minutes to complete. Byron
