    Nice!:TU:
You know, I checked that site and didn't see it...... because they listed it under Olds/Pontiac!:Dou:

Any comments on the 6.29" depth? That's considerably more than the stock 5.5". The Nailhead block has a deep flange on the rear of the block, so it takes a shallower bell than other engines.

i thinking the input shaft on the tko may be longer than a typical 3 speed and t5 5 speed.

dont have any opinion on them just stating what he told me i have no first hand experience with there products but i think the parts are still on ebay they where about a month ago. at one time they did have a kit to mount a modern gm manual trans behind the nailhead is why i mentioned it. i dont see how im not on topic. and after this post i really dont care if you ever get the t56 behind it or not.

Lots of information on on Tremec installation dimensions here (including input shaft length). These guys are also excellent at rebuilding said trans and providing parts like different length or different splined inputs. They are pretty easy to change.

For the most part it was a bolt-in on Bob's 401. Dimensions were as close to perfect as one could get. No playing with offset dowel pins to get the center-line correct, etc. We used the same trans. with the stock cast iron bell & a hydraulic clutch.

the tko600 in my opinion i think will be the easiest. they make a bell housing for the nailhead to the tko, you dont need to cut up the tunnel to fit it. we just put one behind a 69 nova and we used a s10 hydraulic clutch master cylinder with a bracket that hung it off of the two bottom bolts of the brake booster. we used a hydraulic throwout bearing and made the aluminum bushing/shim to set the throwout bearing clearance to pressure plate just right.

I'm feeling the same way. The floor isn't a concern in my case as the car already has a custom floor and tunnel for the T56, but everything else I agree with. Unfortunately I haven't had any luck selling the LS1/T56 combo and I can't afford to own two drivetrains!

how much for that setup, i might want that for my 53 pickup, i have a 550hp sbc 406ci with a built th350 that i dont want to use anymore. i want to make it more of a driver and would like a ls1/t56 in that.

Paul... here is the text from my ebay ad...

This is an aluminum 5.7 LS1 and T56 six-speed from a '99 Camaro. The car supposedly only had around 40,000 miles. This was swapped into a '55 Buick project that was never finished. I'm taking the car in a more traditional direction and will not be using the LS engine.

It comes with the engine, transmission, shifter but no stick, factory lower shift boot, exhaust manifolds from a 2010 Camaro, (2) brand new Bosch oxygen sensors and a PSI aftermarket standalone harness. http://secure.ultracart.com/catalog/PSI/ I will also include an ECM that PSI will reprogram to work in another car. Just about everything you need to swap it into a different vehicle, street rod, etc. I do have the AC compressor, bracket and hoses although I've removed them from the engine. It also has a GM EGR block off plate.

A LS1 / T56 combo bid up to $5,600 last week, but it was from a guy that regulary sells engines. I do have an ebay score of 852 and 100% positive, but I guess I didn't earn people's trust. I had the opening bid set at $3,995, over 1,000 views and 40 something watchers.

A good friend of mine is considering it for his '57 Nomad, but he wasn't planning on going with a stick, but the idea is growing on him.

Let me know if you have any interest.

    Thanks,
    Eric
