Hey guys just thought I would show you the progress on my 401 powered T bucket. It is a 65 401 backed by a 700r4 and 12 bolt 373 posi. If any one has a spare coil bracket let me know.:TU:

Going to be one cool ride! What make are the body and frame? Did you fabricate the motor mounts or buy the universal nailhead mounts that places like speedway sell and fit them to your frame? I know that you can buy most any frame with small block chevy or ford engine and tranny mounts, but they don't offer a nailhead setup on the frames. Funny thing is they don't even offer the ultimate traditional hotrod, flathead setup most frames.
David, The frame was built in my garage using the plans for the California custom rodster plans. We modified the frame to fit the needs of this car. The mounts are the speedway mounts for the nailhead.
I love it! There is a strong possibility that a T-bucket will be my next (and probably last) project. I love Nailheads, but this one will be GMC 6.2 Diesel-powered. Why? Just because I want to. :grin:
So you will have a Chevy truck that would be normal to have that diesel in that has a nailhead, and a T Bucket with the trucks diesel? I love it! That's what hot rods are all about. Build what you like and enjoy it. I've got a T Bucket in my future also, unless I get the right deal on a Model A roadster. I'll probably go the Speedway route. I've never built anything like a frame before. Save the fabrication for things like rear suspension, engine and transmission mounts.

That's what I would like to do. My '82 "Chevy" pickup is actually mostly an '86 GMC. The 350 SBC that came out of the '82 was sold - I will never build a Chevy-powered anything. Nothing against the bow tie crowd, but they are just too common. The 6.2 Diesel that came out of the '86 GMC ran perfectly, but is way too light on HP for a 4,600 lb truck. It is not too light on HP for a 2,400 lb. T-Bucket. And I may be the only person to have (or want) one! :grin:
Doc the rear is a 12 bolt with 373 posi. It was originally a 293 from a 69 Camaro (did I say that, washing mouth out....now) according to the PX code on the housing but was upgraded. The original perches were cut to put it under a nova (damn it). so it was a good canidate and it was free! Kinda.
Dan, thanks for the Coil Bracket I got it yesterday. Next thing to do is build an alternator mount. Non AC Type using the AC Pulleys. I will probably fab them out ou aluminum. Can someone post a picture of the mounting locations used on a Non-AC assembly and the length of the adjustment arm. Any and all pictures would be great. Thanks everyone.
Thought I would post an update. on my Nailhead T Project. All I need is a set of Buick script valve covers.
Man, that is too cool!! I have aspirations to one day take the spare 455 thats on my stand and do a t-bucket. IMO though, the nailhead definitely is cooler. And then you threw 2 4's on top.... thats just flat awesome. Love it!!
