What plugs are people running in their T/A Stage 2 SE heads? Is a BP6ES the one? Thanks.

One of the best reasons to use the FR5 is because it's a 5/8 head instead of 13/16. Depending on which header style you use, there is very little room for a standard wall 13/16 spark plug socket and thin wall sockets aren't really much better. I have Stage 2 SE heads in a 70 GS 455 and there is plenty of room, but with Stage2 TE in an 87 Regal there is very little clearance for 13/16" socket.

Depending on how much compression you have,bp6es is on the hot side.more compression the colder the plug.I have 13.1 so I switched to Bp8es.melted the ground strap on 4 plugs with the 6's

Larry, I used the FR-5's in my last engine and liked them very much. Compression is about the same on my new one.

Dan, the plug for you is actually stock number 7173... that's the NGK plug for the stage 2 heads, with the 5/8 hex and projected tip, and heat range 8. Much easier to deal with than the 13/16 hex plug.

5672-A8 is the alpha-numerical designation on them, but all parts houses use the Stock numbers for ID.

For all NA combos 11-1 or below, I use and recommend the 7373 (FR-5), and have had great luck with them.

Those are the two most commonly used, and easily available plugs for the alum heads.

Jim in one was running over 11:1. I'm glad to see this come up as I was going to have to cross this bridge myself in a few weeks with our new te2 combo. We are going to be about 11.75:1. Normally we run avgas, no nitrous.
