Hi all, I found a used condenser & drier at a salvage yard for $35 and need to know how to proceed. 1. How do I clean the condenser to make sure it is free of any contaminants? 2. I have some r12 freon...but what oil do I use to recharge the system? All I see at the parts store is r134 oil.
I use a bunch of brake clean and compressed air to clean out the condenser (and evaporator). Throw out the filter dryer and get a new one, it will just re-introduce trash to the system you are trying to clean. Isn't straight Ester oil good for R12 systems? I'm not sure, I run R-134a.
