I was wondering if my stock front sway bar is not compatible with the new tubular a-arms and disk brake conversion. I got a setup from pirate jack and converted the stock arms to tubular ones and to disk brakes. This is on a 71 lark convertible, Everything bolted up and went together with no hassles unit i got to the swaybar. it seems to long. if you put the one end link on the other end is sitting at a 45 degree angle. i called the company and they have no idea, said it should fit. When i got the car the sway bar was on it and looked stock.. does it need to be swapped out for an aftermarket one? anyone run into this issue, can't phantom what i am doing wrong if its suppose to bolt up. any help or direction is much apprciated

After looking at numerous pictures i think i may have found the issue. This one is not for this car . must have gotten mixed up with another project or parts. the sway bars for my 71 lark that are stock or after market for the front look strait, this one has a sweeping arch on it. Could it have been off a 73 electra? if not, no idea what its off of. i'll have to get the correct one then.

It should go back if it came off and all you did was change the lowers to tubular. First, make sure it isn't upside down. It is easy to do and will not work.

I've tubular lowers on mine. If they managed to move the lower mounting point, that might complicate things. Measure from the lower control arm bushing hole to the swaybar mount hole and see if there is a difference.

Also, take a pic or two and we'll offer more advice.

Your issue is that its bent really bad right in the middle which would kick the ends out further making the sway bar longer causing your problem. How it got bent like that I have no clue.

yea its got a long swooping arc in it. i think its from another project that has gone by the way side. i'll just have to start looking for a replacement sway bar or buy another one new

Looks like the right one, just bent. Is it possible you jacked the car up by the sway bar?

no i don't think so, unless a previous owner did. been sitting in garage for a good while. i had 3 bricks i parted out a while back, 2 electra's and a riv. possible it was from one of those. guess its junk now. thus begins the quest for another one..

OK, I thought it was from the wrong car from the looks of the very low angle bends. An A-body has much harsher bends.
