I have the entire front end of my 70 455 apart and want to replace the original worn out AC condenser while I'm in there. Nobody seems to make a condenser that fits exactly as stock. I found one on ebay from a place out in Calif. I spoke to someone there and she said they sold something like 50 or 60 of them last year and had no complaints or returns. I spoke to Vintage Air and Classic Air and neither makes a stock replacement that doesn't require any mods. Any direction is welcome but I refuse to purchase something that will not fit exactly as stock or requires any mods to work. Thanks
I'll eventually be in the same predicament. Watching this thread. I was hoping they made a parallel flow condenser that fit. If not, might have to have my original checked/cleaned?
Larry, The woman I spoke with said she isn't aware of a PF condenser available from anyone. She said the bad thing about PF condensers is that once they go bad there is no resurrecting them.
There aren't any diredct fit PF condensers I'm aware of. This place has universal one: http://www.ackits.com/parallel-flow-condensers
I have purchased a condenser from The Parts Place. The picture looked just original open the box it's look like it original. Car still in storage but will have it out this and will check it closer. also I checked this company on ebay Classic Condenser Specialists good luck. Gary
I've got a 1970 Skylark condenser sitting here in the garage. At one point I had visions of employing it in the front of my car as a stock edition doing the job for some future cobbled together system using my ancient aftermarket, but very cool, evaporator. I can't speak to its ability to hold pressure but I bet i could rig up something with my compression gauge to check it out.
