I know that one terminal on my '70 400 trans is for the kickdown solenoid...what's the other one for? Artie
There are no stupid questions, just sometimes stupid answers, Anyway, this is not one of them. The top terminal is for a transmission controlled spark solenoid on the engine. It changes the ignition timing in 3rd gear. Jim Burek
Jim, Is that the white wire that is connected on the pressure sender on the valve body on '72-up TH400?? Thanks, Bram van Keulen
Bram, Yes, there is a pressure switch that screws into the valve body, and a wire leading over to the connector on the side of the trans. It's part of the transmission controlled spark advance. it's a pollution device, you don't need it. It doesn't allow vacuum advance in 1st and 2nd gear, then in third, it activates a vacuum switch on the intake to allow vacuum advance. Eliminate it all, and run a vacuum hose from the carb to the distributor, unless you're doing a Concourse resto on your car, and need it to be correct.
