this is a dumb question but i noticed that when i turn the ignition switch to start my 65 the oil light does not go on like the temp and gen lights do and go off at start up,my question is can u guys check to see if your cars do the same?just to see if i have a burnt bulb? Thanks
George, The oil light should come on when the key is turned to "On". The temp light should only be lit while the engine is cranking. A quick test for a burned out bulb is to leave the key "On" and ground the wire at the oil or temp sending units. The lights should go on and then off when ungrounded. If they don't light, you either have a burned out bulb or a wiring problem. Regards, Mark
Mark i remember it going on before but i noticed it not going on lately,i checked the bulb and replaced it but it still does not come on,what else could it be?the oil switch went bad maybe?the wire maybe came off the switch? Thanks
George, Try grounding the wire at the sender to the block. If the light comes on, I would suspect the sender went bad. See what happens from there. Mark
well figured out the problem and was fixed, seems like the bulb socket wasnt making good contact behind the dash and i wiggled and and fixed the problem, turns out it was a stupid question for something stupid Thanks:beer
