I've re-done a couple of those "items" for guys. Very fun in .45. Heavy, heavy, HEAVY with the drum though, tough to hold up and stay accurate.
I have seen a good number of these for sale. This is one of the few that used a Buick power plant. It appears to be a nice car. They never seem to bring nearly so much. I was at the Plaza one night during the Daytona Turkey Rod Run. One of these pulled in with the fake Thompsons. They attracted a lot of law enforcement in short order. I think they had guns with a gas mechanism that made noise. It was a very dangerous situation because the officers did not know what they had.
Without going down the gun discussion rabbit hole, "Tommy Guns" or Thompsons, like the one pictured with the long barrel, are completely legal as they're just semi-auto .45s.... much like an AR-15 is legal. I can see how people would get "scared" or nervous when seeing one, especially with the 100 round drum mag, after seeing all the old gangster movies. One of the guns I redid had a violin case custom made to carry the firearm in. It's a good friend of mine that owns it, so I know there's nothing sinister about it, just a cool prop.
