    Hey, I managed to get my hands on a 870 street avenger which was supposed to have all it needs to run in a GM aplication, but I have no where to hook the throttle from my 72 skylark. The throttle bracket looks similar to the one on the eddlebrock Qjet I had, but there are just holes in it, where the QJet (and the orignal QJet) had a stud sticking out of a plate in one of the holes. Do I need an add on for this? Any input (and or photos) appreciated...

    HI, you can buy just the part you need. You can buy that stud. Just bolts on. Try Summit or Jegs. JOE :cool: :) :)

    When you finally get the Avenger hooked up and running, could you post some info and let us know how you like it? I'm considering one for my car, but so far I've had more negative comments than good about changing from a Q-Jet. Any info you post will be helpful. Thanks!

    Like it a lot

    Sorry for the delay in following up. I installed this and have it up and running with a few problems, but generally I like it a lot! Here's what I've found;

    1) I've got better power than I've had in a long time. The QJet would do this on its best day, but I'm not the guy to get a QJet to have a good day.
    2) I'm still running rich, but I think the bottom line was in order to get it to run smooth we had to kick it up a bit.
    3) It hard starts when cold, not sure if this is carb or ignition related. My mechanic tweaked and adjusted and I think we're at the best mix as mentioned in #2.
    4) When starting cold, it seems to want to 'backfire' through the carb now and again. It seems more of a puff, that I'm assuming is something with the mechanical advance, though I'm looking for suggestions...
    All in all I'm very pleased with the Holley SA 870, Though I think I still have a little work to do.
