Would like to find a stock 300 camshaft in excellent shape, would like someone to mike the lobes or I can, if you will guarantee the lift to be within .015 of each other. I'm going to set my 300 up for mileage. Or maybe you have a small cam, let me know, my 262/268-.421/.445 lift is a tad too big to get miles per gallons. Trades? Mine has only 30 miles on it and was broken in correctly. Thanks.

I have a 260/260 (advertised) crower cam that I took out of my '65 300 and put in a bigger one. It idles like stock but has more top end than stock. Also had good fuel mileage. It has about 40,000 miles on it. I also have the lifters that were on it and put them in a compartmented box so I could keep up with which one went on which lobe in case I wanted to use it all again.

Thanks, Brian, would like to find one a tad smaller, but I'll keep you in mind. :TU:

From my experience with this 260/260 cam, it is about as close as you can get to a stock cam in a 300. It is ground on a 112 deg. lobe center. About the only difference I ever noticed in it over a stock one was it gave a tad more rpm on the peak power (moved up to 4500 instead of 4000). It started up when cold and ran just like a stock cam, didn't load up, choke worked as stock, etc. Gas mileage didn't change over the stock cam either. Car I had it in is a '65 Special 300-4bbl. with a 4-spd. and a 3.23 rear end.
I replaced it with a 272 duration Poston cam to get more top end out of it so I could shift at a higher rpm and better utilize the 4-speed. The poston cam is very fussy and difficult when cold, loads up, etc, but once the engine gets up to temperature it runs really strong!
