I picked up a Stinger set up today but it's devoid of a coil.

If anyone has one in good working order that they don't need, feel free to let me know.

    Thanks in advance!

I guess it's about personal preference. I had one in my old GS and I loved it.

Stinger coils have been difficult to find for years now. If one is so inclined, the Stinger S4 module can be used in conjunction with an MSD ignition box. It is wired in much the same manner the MSD multi-stage retard is wired. This will allow the desirable progressive high rpm retard the S4 was known for, without the need for a specific coil. Any MSD compatible coil can be used.

The appropriate place for this would be to either PM 41Specimen directly or start your own parts wanted ad.

This is hijacking at it's best.

Brett is #1 for the Stinger. Others, please refrain from trying to jump in front of someone in their own parts wanted thread.

Brett wasn't trying to buy the Stinger, I was. But you guys keep finding reasons to delete my posts simply because the guy stated he had one on this thread for a "COIL", not the Stinger, you guys keep splitting hairs and trying to be difficult geez, take more fun out of this if you can.

Proper etiquette means starting your own thread or sending the user a PM.

I don't think it's that difficult and no one is splitting hairs.

There is a coil that you can get at NAPA that's suppose to be the same, I don't have the part number with me but you maybe able to find it via google, I think I've got one in my spare parts buried in my trailer, I can dig it out this weekend and get the part#.........

The NAPA number on the box is IC12 and in small letters v07159, the coil is stenciled 903. I bought this 20 years ago as a back-up, I was told it is the same coil that Stinger used, were I got the number from I don't remember but must have been in some newsletter like the GS Club or KB....

As I understand it, the S4 coil was nothing more than a corvette transistor ignition coil-GM p/n 1115207. Delco short part #D514. These however are only slightly easier to find than the Hayes marked coils.

I have also been told that a Borg Warner #1103 coil is a suitable replacement, but I have not personally tried one.
