Sticker placement

Just curious, a lot of guys put new stickers on the chassis, springs, sway bar, gas and brake lines. etc. after restoration. The sticker packages they sell on line tell you where they go but is a diagram available showing you where exactly? For example the sway bar, on the left, in the middle or on the right? This goes for all the other stickers. Do you put them on where you think they look the best? Did every car when it was new have all these stickers applied? Thank You

I believe Duane has a diagram on the correct spots..
Also I'm sure they were placed in different places

Beware-a lot of vendors sell a ‘one size fits all’ kit, but there are a lot of differences-plant, year, date, suspension, cooling system, etc. . Don’t just stick them on because a catalog said they’re right!

The only stickers I put on go on the back bumper or window, cause that's all anyone's gonna see.

Duane, I have a 72 GS built in Fremont. Do you have a placement diagram available?

"Do you have a placement diagram available?"

    Yes and no.

I sell MY sticker sets with a diagram that shows exactly how and where to place them. (Except for 3 additional stickers that I explain where they go over the phone. Someday I may add those to the diagram.)

There are other companies that sell Generic sticker sets, for certain year/model cars and they are just that "Generic", plus some of them are not correct anyway.

I sell only the stickers/tags that I know were on the cars. When I judged these vehicles we were starting to see cars come through with all kinds of stickers that they never had, and to be honest, points were deducted because many should not have been there.

If you are a vendor, then you should be responsible for making sure your customers get what they need to install your parts, and make sure they get the right stuff.

I am getting really tired of supplying instruction sheets for people that buy Front Spoilers, front baffles, and other parts from various vendors that sell the parts, and don't explain how they get put on, and I am not talking about alternators here.

I am sorry that I am coming off like a "cranky old man" but after you have done this kind of thing a couple of hundred times, and supplied the info that you developed, so someone else who is selling the parts didn't, or doesn't sell the right stuff, well it starts to get to you.

If you want to see what I sell I am posting a pic of a set I built for a 69 GS, and my sets are made up for each specific car. The set for your 72 car would be different.

    Richie,
Sorry I have not answered you yet. I promise to do it within the next few days, and I thank you for your interest. I believe the full sticker sets are $65.00 but I don't remember if shipping is included or not. I need to check.

    Joe,
The guys have used a bunch of different things. What a lot of guys do, is use 2-sided tape. I believe that is what Nick is doing on my 69 car.

Others have used a very thin coating of construction adhesive, but that can get tricky. If you put too much on them the sticker gets ruined, plus you need to put some on the part you are affixing it to.............and you need to make sure you put them on exactly where you want them. If you need to change the placement, you are going to destroy the sticker before you get it off.

I used 3M Press In Place emblem adhesive.

It's definitely not cheap but works great and is hardly noticeable because it's so thin.

I also "dirtied" my valve cover sticker up a bit in an effort match the condition of my car.

Not really. I started making a set for a 70 Olds 442 (my own car) but that was it.

To build a "correct" specific set I would need an assembly manual for that specific model, and would have to verify the correct colors/text for each sticker.

It took an awful lot of research to make the sticker sets that I do make...... but thanks for asking.
