Looking to swap out my Steering box. I've had the CPP500 before in my 64' Impala, but I'm not looking to spend $400 on the box right now. Any suggestions or input on what has been good for you guys? Thx in advance.

Does Hector still do steering boxes? Someone will jump in with more details.

The fast ratio box used into the 1980's is a popular swap, somewhere around $200. These are a great upgrade for a 66!

There is a newer box also avail, the Delphi 670 series, cost around $600??? Even better performance at a much higher cost.

Square body Jeep steering box is your best budget friendly option

I used the mid 90's Jeep Grand Cherokee steering box on my 1965 Skylark. Works just fine.

I too used one from a Jeep in my 65, love it.

So what years & model Jeeps work? I might have to look into that.

Just order one for a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee to be safe. The years were something like 1992 to 1998 or there abouts.

That is correct. They do have metric fittings tho, will need an adapter.
There is tons of info online about which boxes swap. Here's a couple:

Or just buy a rebuilt quick ratio from Hector, and it'll be ready to go

Sounds like the Jeep box is the way to go. I was tempted to check out the Napa box that got posted above. I can get a commercial discount there which would be nice.

How would you rate it steering wise? Are you able to turn & park well. I know some come with internal stops in them and make parking a 5 point stop.

Its a factory set up box for an A body just tighter. Turning was the same. No messing with metric hoses. I like mine and my buddy is very happy with his!

Can you use the Original pitman arm with it? Or do you need to source another 1?

I also found this 1 at Advance (P/N- 27-6509). That one appears to be the same thing as Napa's. Since the local Napa guy couldnt find the p/n to order me one. He said that since he had never ordered 1 it wasn't in his system etc etc.
