Considering this set up for the newly acquired GS 350, perhaps 15x7 in the front with 15x8's in the rear. My question though is in 72 were the wheels painted body color or black as I have seen both options when reviewing setups. Thanks
If you ordered 15" steel wheels and doggies, they were painted argent silver. They also had trim rings. Now if you ordered 14" steel wheels, they either came body color or black depending on what the body color was. White, bamboo cream, black got black wheels. If you look in the assembly manual there's a chart. Now if you want to be technical, I don't think 15" wheels and doggies were available in 72, but I would have to look at my product bulletins. I think they were discontinued by 71 due to lack of sales
I'm going to be embarking on '70 Seamist Green GS project (with Sherwood Green Painted top) and while I'm a big fan of green cars, it's probably the one color that I personally am not crazy about chrome Rallye wheels on and really can't picture it with Seamist/Dog Dish or Silver/Dog Dish/Trim Rings as I'd like it to appear correct (Even 15" painted body color would appear correct). Car originally came with Deluxe (Volcanoes) Wheelcovers and that's the only way I can picture it done but with redlines instead of the original WW's. Will definitely be different - Picked up a mint set of wheelcovers last year for it. That's correct Jason afaik - IIRC, they weren't available @ the beginning of the MY and then made a short appearance (the strike was in there too) & then discontinued.
