Can someone tell me how to find out how many 1976 Buick Electra 2-door Limited hardtops were produced vs how many 1976 4-door Hardtops were produced - I've tried Google searches but can't find out individual stats, only total number produced in 1976. Thanks, Stephen

You also want the Electra Limited production totals for just the 4 drs hardtop sedan, or including the Electra 225 numbers?

Model year 1976 Electra Limited 2 drs coupe: 28,395
Model year 1976 Electra Limited 4 drs hardtop sedan: 51,067

What's the use of knowing that?
As long as these cars are used in banger races, they are not very valuable to the general public.

That's a great shame - what a waste of a lovely car. I could understand if they were using 80's and 90's cars - much less character generally through those decades.

The 1975 Electra is the biggest standard production Buick ever built, and it's "the bigger the better" in a banger race.
So a model year 1977 and later down-sized car is not ideal.
And Statesiders are living under the impression that their petrol prices are very high :)laugh:), that's also why a big mid-70's (Buick) car with a restricted 455 smog engine is not really popular.

When I was looking for my travel car, I found that 'For Sale' searches would turn up quite a lot of the 4-door versions but almost no 2-door versions. I assumed it was because far fewer 2-door versions had been built, but given the figures below where total number of 2-door variants is about half that of the total number of 4-door variants, that can't be the reason. There should be more.

From your reference to 'Banger Races' and the very few 2-door versions advertised, do I take it that it is the 2-door version that is preferred for a 'Banger Race', hence the scarcity? Stephen

I'm watching model years 1975 and 1976 Electras for sale for quite a few years now, and there are always more 2-door cars advertised.
People care more about their 2-door coupes, so there are more survivors.

Too bad that for those years the hardtop coupes were no longer built, in my opinion there is something wrong with the lines of the 2-door pillared coupes:

Yes, it is true the '75 & '76 2-door coupes do have an unattractive line between the B & C pillar and the half-landau accentuates it. The '75 & '76 4-door hardtops are definitely better looking in that area (as are the pre-'75 coupes).

I'm surprised though about your statement that "there are always more 2-door cars advertised" - although I have only been looking infrequently over the last few months I have yet to find more that two '75 or '76 2-door coupes but can find +20 4-door hardtops. What Web sites do you search?? Stephen

The two door model year 1975 and 1976 cars are no hardtops, you can't open both windows on each side.

This is a hardtop, they stopped building those for model year 1975 and on:
