    Well since it was blubbering, and made more power and torque when they removed the air cleaner, I'm guessing its way to rich.

    What's the jetting now?

    So power dropped off after 5,450?

    Then again if you're running 10% ethanol gas it wouldn't be all that rich.

    Not sure, I'd have to ask Haydn, I'm at work...it's written down somewhere.

    The graph looks like it was still going up, but the operator said it was basically flooding the engine.
    I will post the graph here tonight.

    With only 11° overlap, you should be able to run a 6.5 PV, and I'd start a 72 square jet and see what it does

    Wow, I hadn't seen this thread and read all 37 pages. Not all in one sitting, but towards the end I couldn't put it down:) - Excellent thread. So many times I wanted to reply but figured it was probably covered later in the thread. Had already been considering it but now really makes me (I think:confused:) want to do a stroker 350 - Derrick makes it sound so easy:). Great help from all the resident SBB experts - I Always enjoy reading all of your collective posts (would name names, but don't want to forget anyone). What a small but diverse group and everyone was so willing to help. I hope someday to be one of the resident 350 experts, but for now I just read.

    Best 350 build I did was back in the '90's and there wasn't much info. or parts. Little bits from Kenne Bell (had prob. bought the C118 cam in the early 90's to replace the Mark II) and TA was just getting going and whatever little info. was in the GS Xtra. Sonny was the 350 king. Wish I'd have dynoed it but it ran 13.0's with crap for 60' times and I never got it dialed in before life took over. Car prob. had high 12's in it w/o a gear change (had 3.73's). I'm building two (2) 350 cars after being out of all this for a while so I'm sponging up all the info. I can. There are parts of this thread I need to go back and re-read. I was too excited to get to the end & couldn't stop to absorb all of Derrick's calculations.

    Ivan, I commend you for the perseverance (must say I cringed a little @ the talk of a crate eng.) and patience. We're all, or at least most of us, here because we like to be unique and of course we believe Buick made one heck of an (under rated) engine and even among the those on this site, the SBB guys are small minority. You obviously weren't quite sure what you were getting into @ the beginning;). Very fortunate that you're adept @ engine building and your son is lucky to have had you to teach him. I have to guess that dad also helped out here and there with the parts! That build wasn't a cheap date. The shipping alone was a small fortune. Once it hooks and the carb is jetted and the combo dialed in I expect you'll see well into the 12's.

    And then there's the new heads...

    Heads may be a while yet.
    Start now as every part you will need won't get into your hands soon enough...
    Ex: billet crank= 6 months or more! Anything custom= long wait.:rolleyes:

    Well, Haydn's is getting antsy about upgrading again...
    Talking about putting a supercharger on it now.....(good grief)

    I think I have him convinced that his next purchase should be EFI, so it will run now, and with anything he thinks up in his head afterwards...

    Looking at the FI Tech systems...

    You should go over to the BPG Buick site and see what gsjohnny has done with a supercharger

    Haydn finally had a chance to see what the jetting was in the carb.
    74 on both primaries.
    84 on both secondaries.

    He dropped down to 80 on both secondaries, and down to 70's on the primaries.
    He did in stages...changed the secondaries first, then drove it, then changed the primaries.
    I gave him hell for dropping the primaries before he could even tell me he went too far.....

    He is changing them to 72 in the primaries.

    Going to the track this weekend...with a set of MT 275/60/15" drag radials.

    Good luck at the track, post up some time slips!
    I’m taking the twin turbo to the track on the 23rd, unfortunately we only have 1/8 mike track.....

    Good luck to Haydn. Don't burn it up. I ran 77/84's in my 830HP.

    I think 72-80 is a good place to start Good luck this weekend and get it on.

    Get the second yellow to just turn on for your best times, creep up on it. Hold them brakes good and push it up to 2800 bang it at 6200 and pop a 12 off. I bet 6500 wouldn't hurt your stroked so what the heck.

    BTW you want to cut a good light leave on last yellow (3rd) :D

    I'm no thanks sure if he could hold the car with the stock drum brakes in the front. Lol
    I will have to talk to him about manually shifting the car for sure.
    Once again...I'm at work for this weekend, and will not be able to see him run his car...but I'm sure I will hear about it, and will pass on the information.

    New quickest time for Haydn tonight!

    Reaction: 0.602
    60'= 1.822
    330'= 5.287
    660'= 8.235
    MPH1= 82.99
    990'= 10.737
    1320'= 12.999
    MPH2= 102.94

    He now has a 12 second car....barely! Lol

    The MT drag radials helped a lot.

    He sent me a message:

    "My other time slips with no drag radials, and richer jetting, I ran 13.8, 13.7, and 13.6. My best 60' was 2.366, now I'm 13.3 and 12.9 with a 1.8 sec 60 foot. Huge improvement!"

    Wish I was there to see him...he is so happy right now, and the car is running great!

    WOW SWEET, a 12 second naturally aspirated sbb 350 actual street car, who would of ever thought that would be possible!?;)

    I know it has more in it with some more tuning, and he probably still has a little tire spin that he can get those 60 ft times down a little more as well with some practice and maybe trying different tire PSI. He must not be winding our first gear as much as 2nd, is he still leaving it in "D"?

    Just imagine if that engine had ported heads on it or if anyone made good flowing aluminum aftermarket heads for a sbb 350 what it would run!:eek:

    No wonder they don't want good parts to be sold for the sbb 350s, they wouldn't be able to sell the more expensive BBB stuff!:rolleyes:
