Wheelz: I finally got home and checked the exhaust on my GS. Turns out I need 2.5 inch tips. Can you help? When you say you can "slightly modify" 3 inch tips to 2.5 inch, what does that mean? Also, who sells the hangers for the 2.5 inch exhaust pipes? This will be a 2012 project for me now that I have the N25 bumper. UticaGeoff
Geoff... a slight modification would be not much more than cutting a few 1/8" slots in the collar, allowing a clamp or a welder to compress the 3" collar down about 1/4" all the way around to fit onto a 2-1/2' pipe. The N25 tips could then either be 'clamped' or 'tack welded'. I have never had to do this in my 18 years making these N25 tips, but I dont think it would be too challenging to modify. NORMALLY, I would have manufactured these using a 3:1 ratio, 2-1/2" vs 3" tips respectively...but I messed up this time, prolly because I originally had initial PRE-orders for 3" n25 that didnt quite pan out when I bought the materials to build these. Thus, I ended up with more 3" tips than originally ordered. You know the saying: When you are thrown lemons, MAKE LEMONADE!! :beer Wheelz, Tampa Bay
When I put the 2.5" system on my 72 I removed the factory n25 hangers The tail pipes were mounted nicely and very strong to the frame behind the rear wheels. Even under load they did not flex enough to touch the sides of the n25 openings. So you dont really need hangers, no one looks under there anyway.
THANK YOU MIKE! Got your paypal. Got your addy. WILL GET them boxed up and on their way by wednesday! :beers2: ONLY ONE SET 3" LEFT GUYS!!!! ...and it may be a while before I make more!! :Brow:
