Stage2 style hard line

I know TA sells a kit ($$$) for a factory Stage2 look hard line kit for the Holley 850 on a B4B but I'm thinking it's produced by someone else. I've always wanted to slap an 850 on my 462 for the cruise in wow factor(let's face it, QJ's are awesome but BUTT ugly:moonu: )

I've always bent up my own fuel lines but I'm getting lazy in my old age. I looked at In-Line tube and they don't list it.

My combo as it sits now is a 462 with a Stage1 style mech pump. A performer intake and no a/c.

I just got a great looking 4781-5 complete with electric choke conversion(score!)off E-Bay and other then the affore mentioned hard lines I have everything to slap it on.

I'm on my last good 800 QJ and haven't seen one in my local yards for several years so it's off to Holley-Land for me. Atleast for now. :eek2:

If TA is the same one made by The Parts Place, it does not fit right without some serious modifications and I would not recommend it.
Tried two of them (on my dime :spank: ) and both were the same.
BTW, TPP was down right rude and I won't buy from them again.

Thanks Guy, I'll probably just bend up my own again. I just cant see paying the asking price for the ready made kit:idea2: . Specialy when my car is not a numbers matching anything. Just another run of the mill Skylark with a 455 stuffed in it. Although I do give a nod to somewhat correct appearing parts.

Well, it's harder than you think to bend one up and do all the flaring because of the size of the line.
Again, my trouble was with the TPP kit...NOT TA's kit.
I personally think it is worth the $$ if it fits correctly.

I probably won't try to replicate the Stage2 setup. I have the real deal tubing bender and double flaring set so the line is just a get off my butt and do it deal. I think I even have a length of 3/8ths steel line out in the garage from the last one I made.

I'll just use the old standard dual feed line and mate up to that.

Hey maybe I'll post a pic or two if I do get off my ever expanding back side and do it.

Got lots to do around the house including maybe the yard for what could be the last time this year. Supposed to be in the mid 70's here today.

I made my own or you can get the carb line from ss396.com which fits quite well and make your own lne from the pump to the carb.

I have a TPP setup on my Stage 2, and Guy is right, it had to be modified to fit. :af:

Its not really that bad if you have the right tools. The materials will probably cost you around $20 or less. The brass "T" is available from any good auto parts store for around $5. Here are a couple I did for Jen's Cleveland and Larry's 455.

I almost fell off my seat when I saw what TPP wants for those lines

    Jason-
You must have a pretty good bender. I have your average higher end bender and still could not get the bend done down by the fuel pump where it makes a tight "U" so I modified the TPP one which was a bitch to make it look right.
    Try unbending a bend on a 5/16" line...

When I called them on the first go around, they pretty much told me I was crazy and incompetent and probably not working with the correct Stg2 parts. I asked if I could buy another line just from the pump to the "T" instead of the whole kit they said nope. Bought another kit and the same thing...

One of my benders is an Imperial Eastman 3/8" bender. It can bend a 3/8" steel line 180 degrees in a 3" diameter. Impressive. And the tube stays round across the entire bend.

I'll give you that though, the 90 degree bend and flare by the pump is tricky. I had to make the "U" a little longer in order to have enough line to attach the flaring tool and install the flare nut. In other words, my home made line runs down a little more than a factory line before it makes the two 90 degree bends back up to the carb.

The first time I heard that, I thought it was hilarious! Nothing like customer service telling you that you're incompetent when you have one of the almost "non-existant" original setups out there :bla:

I have a couple of those Holley dual feed set ups are they different between the carbs. Mine might be for a smaller carb than an 850

There are two dual feed lines- one for carbs with a rear meterting block and another shorter one for carbs without

Well I finally got around to throwing the 850 on the motor. I bent up the new line and took the easy way out using a prebent dual feed line I already had and bent up a new pump to carb line.

Instead of trying to replicate the Stage2 setup as I originally planned, I just made it fit also taking into consideration I'd be needing an inline filter. I found a suitable space for it on top of the intake to the left of the distributor. I left a little more steel line since I'm also thinking of going back to the SP1 intake so I didn't want to trim anything to short.

Looks good David. How hard would it be to get the lines further away from the block and intake? Would fuel delivery be cooler?:Do No:

Scott, It's really farther away from heat then it appears in the pics. Space and fitment concerns keep even the stock factory lines pretty close to hot metal so although a completely isolated fuel line is optimum, On a street or stock appearing motor it's not a reality, remember the fuel pump is bolted to the engine so reach down and grab that puppy after the engine has run a while. :eek2:

I may reroute it some(bend a new one)when and if I swap intakes again. I'd really like the fuel line to be supported somehow like with an original style fuel line clip that was on the frontmost intake bolt. That line moves a bit with the pulsing of the fuel pump. Kind of like a heartbeat and I'm sure it can fatigue somewhere after a lot of use. You would'nt notice that pulsing as much with a solid steel line from the pump to the carb. But believe me, It moves a bunch. Atleast with my 10 year old Ac/Delco Stage1 pump it does.

I'll say another thing, These pictures are a few weeks old and I've put a few miles on the car since the carb swap and my motor loves the 850 and I am a QuadraJet Believer, Always have been. Now I know why some guys make the switch. Fuel economy suffered(?) but wow it pulls like a freight train with this thing on there and I have yet to start tuning it much. I pulled it apart to clean and inspect it since it's an E-Bay purchase. Someone had it apart before as the jets were leaned way down. I just put 79's squared in it since that was all I had big enough and four of .
