As many of you know, I found a new, local home for my 72 Skylark and while Benderbrew and many others think I have gone insane, I have actually always BEEN insane!! All anyone who wonders even a little need do is check out the posts from driving my car accross country to lose in the first round at 3 races!! Anyway, I have moved onto a 67 Fairlane project. Thought I might drop in here now and again and post a few pics and progress updates.

so here is where we start-67 2 door post sedan, complete new cage/4 link/9 inch, racing buckets, fair condition, always in socal so no rust. It will get a fresh coat of Limegold paint, and a FE 428 for power. Staying with an automatic, a C-6, AND HOPING TO DRIVE IT BEFORE 2009 ENDS!

There's nothing wrong with Fairlane's and Cyclone's. My neighbor (who miticulously builds my Buick motors) has a '66 Cyclone. After building my Buick motors and being impressed on how fast they are he likes Buicks too but is still a Ford man with a Cyclone. He has also opened my eyes to Fairlanes and especially a '65 Comet.

Looks like a nice project. I always loved the looks of the Super Stock cars. A couple of guys bring them out to Firebird for the national event each year :TU:

I've always had a soft spot for Fairlanes and Comets from those years. :TU:

seasonal holidays were kind to me time-wise, I got the glass out and exterior de-trimmed for the body shop visit in a few weeks. Also got the goop cleaned out of the rear window channel and a start on the windshield channel, and the instruments and dash pad are off.
Our local pick a part has 50% off around new years and I was able to score plain wheels and maypops so the polished welds can avoid the paint trip altogetehr, and I scored an unbelievably nice bench seat as well-all for 41.80, including tax!! love that half off stuff...

Hey Tom, send me your address again-YOU ARE MAKING ROOM FOR THIS THING TO PAINT AND FINISH IT FOR ME, RIGHT? I can ship it next week!!
LOL no one finishes em likeyou do, but it should turn out ok.
Since I suck at actual bodywork and paint, I am trying to remove all possible roadblocks for the body and paint guys, so all they ahve to do is strip/straighten and shoot it.:TU:

428 FE plus .030. cr at 10.6 to 1, forged pistons, stock stroke, alum heads (see below) camshaft and intake as yet undedcided. I would love to make it a 2x4 setup but those intakes and carbs are over 2k, and that just is not gona happen on my budget. the big expenditure was the heads, which will give me plenty of room to change it and play in the future.

Sounds good! I just picked up a '67 hardtop as well. I had to get one out of Oregon to find a car with no rust. Brought it back to the East coast. I am planning a build similar to yours, but probably not as soon.

I'll look forward to seeing your updated pics.

Cool car. I have always liked the Fairlane and some of the years of the Galaxie. I use to have a 65 Comet. I told the wife if you saw a 65 Comet and a Chevy II Nova side by side and you didn't know anything about cars (as in what's suppose to be cool) there is no way you would choose a Chevy II over the Comet. I also use to have a 63 1/2 Galaxie that I would love to have back. Never had a fairlane, I've come close to buying one a couple of times, but never had one.
