I finally sent the 70 skylark off for some body work and paint. I also ordered a Stage 2 Scoop from TA to have it installed as well.

For those running the Scoop, how are you guys attaching it to the hood? I was thinking rivets? on the inside lip. TA mentioned Glassing it to the hood.

If anyone can share some up close pictures, that would be awesome. I am planning on making it functional as well. Maybe an air cleaner similar to the original one or just a taller K&N Reusable Filter.

    Thanks guys!

when I ran mine just used small button head bolts, think 4 per side, used some paint able silicone to seal it to the hood and then smoothed out the transition. looked good I thought.

I got mine from VFN and like Bens99gtp said, it has metals tabs laid into the fiberglass. EZ to drill the hood and bolt it on.
Not sure if the TA scoop has tabs or if it is glassed in only...

The TA one is all glass, I almost went with VFN, I didn't know they had metal tabs.

Jose I can take pics of mine tomorrow if it'll help you.
I have seen some setups sealed to the hood and they look great.
I just used a taller filter that pokes up into the scoop.
I needed more clearance with my intake and carb so I bought a flat Skylark hood from VFN as well as the scoop, and cut a hole in that.
I wasn't going to cut a nice steel GS hood...

mine didnt have tabs, I got mine from postons way back when.....put mine on a steel hood. I used a tall bolt for the air cleaner to mark the center of the carb by closing the hood against it. drilled that hole, used it the center up my air clean planned to use and trace it. the set the scoop up to fit over the air cleaner by keeping even spacing. then I traced the scoop both outside and inside. now I knew exactly how thick the flange was. drilled my mounting holes in the hood and cut out for opening. placed scoop back on hood on the marks I traced. the drilled through the holes for mounting the scoop. just that easy

I did this same thing as far as locating/cutting, and mine is a Poston scoop also. I used some 3m foam weather strip to seal it to the hood so there would be no visible gaps. I use a conical shaped air filter by Airaid that fits up into the hole and protrudes a couple inches. Since the filter is tapered it also makes it so that air could technically be drawn in straight down (to an extent), though I doubt that has any real tangible benefit. You can kinda see it poking through here.

That Looks Sweet! Great tip on the Weatherstrip, I'll look into some of it as well.

One other thing I forgot to add that turned out nice: Since I didn't have the skill set to roll the edge around the hole cut in the hood, I used small black plastic door edge molding from the local parts store (like you see all the old people put on their park avenue doors.... :p ) around the edge of the hole. Gave it a more finished look than just an edge of sheet metal and was a 10 minute $10 effort.

The car should be ready by Next Saturday. I am going with a white color and solid black hood with the stage 2 scoop on it. I will post some pictures.

Meanwhile here is a peek at what is going on.

I want to track down some Stage 2 Stickers for the scoop or maybe just add some Buick 350 badges or something along the lines.

I am thinking about using just a tall air filter like mentioned above or maybe purchasing a cowl air intake/ cleaner base and adding the chevelle air cleaner cowl induction
seal around it to seal against the hood. The dominator air box is supposed to be easy to trim. What are you guys thoughts?

Is there a closed air metal cleaner I can maybe use that looks like the original stage 2 one? Just use the base and build up the seal?

Looks awesome. I have a white 69 and I have been throwing around the idea of stripes or a stage 2 scoop I can’t wait to see that painted

    Here are the Results!

Still need to get it buffed

Not a show car but definitely a driver. I want to enjoy it as much as possible. I am looking for a GS grill but for now the stock 70 will do.
