I think T6 might be the temper of the cast aluminum.

    Ohhh I see that
Oh I see what you’re saying TA did let me know about the headers piece so that’s fine I feel that the hardest part will be the machine shop IF and that’s a very big if I need to take it to the shop lol

Gary, what did that motor cost, soup to nuts? I just want the OP to get an idea what he is looking at.

There is no IF. You must use a machine shop if you want to rebuild the engine. Any shop you choose will tell you that.

TA heads are cast from 356 aluminum and heat treated to T-6 specification. Irrelevant to what we are talking about though.

Damn... so that’s possibly another 2.5 - 4K for that...

Honestly, you are looking at about 15K total cost when all is said and done. And that is if you do some of it yourself, like engine removal and install.

That sounds about right I thought it would be around 10k however with the block having to be rebuilt that additional Money adds up. Y’all are very helpful! I’m very excited for this project and will keep the chat updated as I get the parts and machine work done.

Good, if you spread this over time, it gets more affordable. Also consider using the Stage1 aluminum heads instead of the Stage2. That will save some money. Look at my signature. That motor uses TA Stage1SE aluminum heads.

Larry, the stage2's were a lot easier to get headers made up.

Can't you just buy TA Stage2 headers? TA says they fit the 71-76 Electra. Why would you have to have them made up?

J'Linn, what city are you located in? There is probably a member of this forum in your area that can recommend a good local shop or machine shop to you that won't cheat you out of your money. Might even be willing to help you and show you how to do stuff yourself.

Yeah I think they make them as ordered but I’d have to speak to them again I asked them about it like 3 months ago lol
