Hoping to go on the 430 this winter. Thanks And what is the valve spring removal tool that people have been using while the long block is still assembled?
There's a special tool to get the springs out,but you will need a compressor also. The compressor with a special tool that goes into the spark plug hole will hold the valve up.Its a job better suited for somebody familiar with cars.If you live on Long Island,I can lend you those tools.Bruno.
Thank you Bruno, I might make the drive. Is there a tool out there on the market that you can show me that's the right one? Also I know how to take the compression gauge apart and remove the valve so that air can be pumped in.
You can use a set like this to hold the valves closed ... I think these were less than $10. There is a spring compressor tool for removing the locks that is used with this set. I'll post a picture if I can locate it.
