I bought 2 narrow pin emblems from GSfred for $95 and was hoping to be in the same range. Unfortunately they were the wrong ones for my car...
I also purchased 2 reproductions from The Parts Place that didn’t fit the holes on my fender. They were off by about an 1/8 inch. I am hoping that original emblems will fit. I just had the car repainted and don’t want to ream the holes to make them fit.
Yes Sir, straight off a 70 Stage 1 back in the day. I wanted the emblems at this yee haw junk yard and the employee with the tool truck escorting me said go look for other things you want "I have something to get the emblems off with" next thing I heard was the pop of a torch fired up and I stood there with my jaw hanging while he blazed that whole section out!!!!! When I was trying to get the GS door panel emblems off without damaging the mint door panels he said "Back up, I got it" and proceed to stuff a knife in the door panel as far as he could and saw them out! Kept them all these years and friends use to use the Stage panel to mark NOS fenders for proper emblem placement.
Hi Jim, I found 3 Stage one emblems. Take a look and see if what you need. Also, I’m tearing apart a motor from a parts GS. Was a real 70 Stage 1 four speed verified by Sloan but has a 71 motor best I can figure. Car was too far gone to save. Motor is stamped IA. I think that means 71 GS 455? Heads are stamped 1237661. Can you tell me if those are 71 Stage 1 heads? Somethings I find say yes, others are not definitive. I did have a 70 Stage 1 carb (7040246). Lmk. Thanks. Tom
Tom--the pics that you posted are narrow pin emblems correct for 1973-75 stage 1 cars. The pics that I posted are 70-72 wide pin emblems. You cannot tell if those are stage 1 heads without looking at the face of the valves.
