I am in the process of rebuilding the ST-300 from my 67 Skylark. When compressing the reverse clutch piston return seat (spring retainer) in order to remove the cylinder from the transmission case, I managed to destroy it. Does anybody have one lying around in their parts bins? Also, managed to lose one of the reverse clutch springs as well! I'll gladly pay for both. To be clear, it's the little cup which retains the springs within the clutch piston.
*UPDATE I was able to, with much time and effort, reshape the retainer using my shop press. It is usable again. However, still unable to locate the missing spring. I am beginning to believe it was reassembled without one of the springs the last time somebody was in it...
Sorry, I haven’t been on for a while. I have a st300 tranny that I have been trying to get rid of. I got rid of the torque converter and someone else wanted the governor and I still can’t figure out where it is. So I probably have whatever part you are looking for, if you are still looking. You will have to give me instructions on how to get the parts you need if you still need them. As you can probably tell, I don’t know squat about the inner workings of an auto tranny.
Can you pist a picture of the type of spring you're missing? I took a few of these apart and kept some hardware.
