I thought I was already at 4800 until I dug up my old data - I was probably between 4200-4600 at the most...

And I thought 5100 would be perfect....the more you know, the more you dont know!

I have a momentary switch for the stall on the shifter (it's actualy a repurposed line lock switch, fits the shifter shaft perfect) that over-rides the Bruce Roe controller... I'll make a few runs that way this spring and see what I get.

Put the spring back in, I'm back to short shifting at 4600. I need to start over with another governor. I think if I just removed the spring from a undrilled stock unit it might get me to 4900 rpm.

Walt - I couldnt get the video to work - might be my computer.....can anyone else see it?

Decided to take one more pass at my mods - took another gram of metal off each weight so they were at 9 grams each....too much! I'm back over 5000 rpm again

I'm gonna try to add a gram of weight back to one of the weights today and see where that gets me. I'll weld one of the 1/4 holes closed, and that should just about do it.

    Getting closer!

I will say though, I made up the 1/2 spacer for the carb and it seems to make some power! I'll get it on the G-Tech to be sure, but feels GREAT! I wound up using both 4 hole gaskets so the charge is contained all the way into the intake.

I know Im real late with this reply - was reading and saw your mention of Type "F" fluid ... My tranny guy FB Transmissions (Freddy Brown) specs type "F" in everything he builds for street/strip applications and that is what I've been running in my TH400 since he built it in ~1997. LOTSA street/hwy miles, punishment, and prolly a good couple hundred of passes and still going strong.

    ... just an FYI

No problem! I'm just happy to get another core to play with..

Although, I got out my trusty 100.00 Harbor Frieght flux wire welder this morning and learned three things:
    • Dont forget to put the visor down
    • It only takes one spark to send a Brakeclean soaked rag up in flames
    • You can get the heat high enough to actually melt material away rather
    than add material.

All that aside I added 1 gram of material to the end of one of the weights, and it seems to work! Shift point is right where I want it by ear, I'd guess 4900 rpm . My G-Tech is measuring revs all wonky so I'll have to fix that first to get an official read.

I'd still lilke to use a clean weight and start over, I dont trust that ground down slag to hold forever, and i dont want it running through my tranny. But in the meantime...I think I'm ready for the season.
