SPX square bore, adapting to dominator.

Got a good deal on a TA SPX square bore intake.
Need to adapt to a dominator carb.
Should I modify the flange or go adapter spacer plate.

 

I would modify the intake....any adpater the wont totally butcher air flow will not be short....hold clearance will for sure become a big issue

That's I was thinking too.
I will bore out the flange & use a 1 inch dominator open spacer.

1/2 in adapter is from a marine place in FL,. TA has a steel one,..but i preferred aluminum

What did you use to machine it.

 

Bridgeport to plunge in and remove the big meat,..then dressed it up with a burr

Completed the flange surgery & clean up.

 

looks good ...that cloverleaf flange on the out of the box 4500 spx isn't that great,...the larger plenum with the runners more exposed is better imo

My short block is completed.
Next step, is to install the stage 2 SE heads.
Hope to get it all in the s10 truck before it gets real cold.
