I've been using Sprayway glass cleaner for 50 years and it's always been my go-to glass cleaner. I don't know if they changed their formula, but it's not worth a damn any more. It seems like all it does is smear. I did the outside of the rear window on my Cutlass tonight 5 times, and it was still filmy and smeary. I tried using waterless car wash spray and it cleared right up. Anyone else having a poor experience with Sprayway lately? What is your go-to window cleaner (tint safe)?
I’ve noticed the same thing, It leaves a film or it looks clean until the sun hits it while your driving and it shows dust trails
I stopped using it right before I sold my commercial cleaning company a couple years ago as I had noticed something had changed. I use Meguiar’s glass cleaner for my own personal needs now and it is excellent ATTACH=full]446398[/ATTACH
ZEP glass cleaner at Home Depot seems to work well, but like most any chemical that used to work good, they change it for environmental reasons and it aint worth a crap anymore
I don't know what glass cleaner is best but I can tell you Armorall Glass Cleaner is crap! Did my car & my wife's SUV with it and it looked clean when I finished but the first time we drove them in the sun they were both smeary messes. I actually did mine twice with no improvement. Then I used some cheap grocery store brand cleaner that we had in the kitchen on them and they look great.
I just ordered some “black diamond” microfiber towels for glass. My microfiber towels I use for windows are getting old. I’ll see if they are an improvement. I really prefer the foam style of window cleaner as it stays put and doesn’t run down the glass like the liquids do.
I've always used SprayWay and love it. Bought another case about a year ago and it seems like it's the same as always. Smells great! Works great! I'm down to the last 2 cans and need to order more. But now you've got me worried that it won't be the good stuff. Hopefully I can end up with an NOS box of the original but only time will tell...
I used to use it and kind of forgot about it. It used to not leave lint and absorbed whatever you used as your cleaner quickly. Much better that cloth or paper towels, not as good as some of the new window clothes or a squeegee but effective. Used to be everyone got a newspaper but today not so much.
I still make my own using vinegar, 99% isopropyl alcohol, distilled water and a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap. Been using it for years and I’ve yet to find a commercial product that I prefer over it.
The paper stock is lint free and the black ink acts as a polishing agent on the glass. You don't want to use anything but regular newsprint, no colors.
