Has anyone ever bought the 71-72 Cutlass sport mirrors to use on a Skylark from Original Parts Group? They state they have a reproduction identical to the original. On their web site it says the mirrors also fit the Pontiac GTO, Lemans, Tempest as well as the Grand Prix. On the Buick Skylark section of the website they only list the wedge gasket. I spoke with opgi and they cannot confirm the mirrors would work on the Skylark even with wedge gaskets and it's not something they have researched . Needless to say if I bought the mirrors and they didn’t work I probably won't be able to return them. Ouch 300 +dollars and shipping down the tubes.

This lists the CORRECT casting numbers for the ORIGINAL mirrors. As to aftermarket parts, well, they are NOT correct... Yes, the CORRECT parts HAVE been found on Cutlass, Grand Prix (yes I found ONE car with a set in a junkyard that were original to the car...) I can't find the 'sticky' that WAS on here before the update... The main problem is getting the CORRECT gaskets. As far as I know, the ONLY source is DUANE on here.

I see that you have already had the unfortunate set of circumstance of dealing with The Parts Place from another posting...

OPGI has a long history of advertising items for Buicks that are not correct. If you are attending the Buick event at Piedmont Dragway in May, I am bringing a 5 gallon bucket of used sport mirrors.

From what I've learned so far delving into the sport mirrors the gaskets are very important part. I have the article on sport mirrors that Duane wrote saved to my computer for some time now. Unfortunately the wrecking yards in Canada in my particular province have dried up a long time ago of any donor cars. The only possibility would be a car sitting in somebody's farmyard. I have ran local ads in a search for a set of sport mirrors for either the 70-72 Skylark or the 71-72 Cutlass. No luck yet. Duane mentioned in my previous post that he was out of gaskets and no mention from him of making anymore. I'd imagine it would be a bit of work for him. "flynbuick" mentioned an event at Piedmont dragway in this thread and having a bucket of used sport mirrors with him to sell I'd imagine. Not much chance of me getting down all my holidays are booked for my wedding in August. Regardless I'll keep looking and asking around.

Probably not much chance of me making it down to the Piedmont Dragway. No holidays for me anymore this year. If you have a set of mirrors half decent condition with the driver side remote working I would definitely take them off your hands. Let me know if that's a possibility.

If any are left after the event, I may post those. I prefer to not deal with shipping.
