The speedo clip that holds the cable in place is pressed on to the speedo housing.I was just looking at it,Maybe you are talking about something also,I don't know.If you need the housing,I have one with the speedo alert,in very nice condition.Bruno.

1972 assembly manual page 446 view B. Thanks for the offer on the housing but, I don't need one. It's under the plastic toe kick cover and bolts to the inner steering cover assembly. It holds the speedo cable in place under the cover. Thanks.

No problem.I was ref erring to the speedo cable the part that the cable snaps into the speedometer housing, that would be the end of the cable, way up,under the dash.Bruno.

Is this the clip you're seeking ? I have one, not for sale but hoping it may help our viewers know what you're looking for.....

This was attached to one of the Steering Column Plate Screws and held the Speedo Cable in place. I think this one came off a Chevelle.....
I honestly don't recall ever seeing one on a Buick but I'll be the first to admit I'm still learning all the time when it comes to these cars!

    OK,
First off there are not 446 pages to a 1972 Buick A-Body assembly manual. I don't know what book you are looking at but I am thinking it must be one from the Full Buick line, and has A-body pages mixed in with the Big car pages.

You also need to reference the drawing number which is at the bottom right hand corner of the drawing, and not some number that is written at the bottom or top of the page. Otherwise we will not know what page you are referencing.

If you go to Page number 12-7.2 in the A-body section, it will have a first used block down in the lower right of the drawing and will read "1972-A".
View "B" shows how the cable is routed as it comes up into the interior of the car. There is no "clip" shown.

What I think you are looking at is a page from the "B, C, D,------------whatever" body pages.

I think you are looking for a part that was never installed on your "A" body.

Below is the page out of one of my 1972 Buick A-Body assembly manuals.

Yeah usually the steering column plate has a provision for the toe kick and the speedo cable passes along side it. . . .
