Man, im ecstatic right now, just got done being spanked by a purple ( pretty sure, even though it was dark) GN here in town in gainesville. I know its not safe and its pretty stupid, but its the first GN ive seen in action, and honestly, I want one so much more than what I want"ed" to do to my Skylark. Anyways, to the racing, at a red light I see what looked to be either a boxed chevy or olds... could it be a GN? I take off fast to 35 mph and he follows right behind and lines up with me, I stomp it to about 50-60 and the turbo's screaming and all you hear is the tires break loose and hes gone, I pass him and see hes turning, so I turn and follow, line up again at about 25-35 and there he goes, gone. From a dig he ate me alive too. we "raced" 3 times and each time I was cheesing. Took a video, talked to him a few seconds and expressed our love for Buicks. Told him I loved him ^.^ so crazy. later ya'll
If your going to get spanked, it's cool that it's by a cool car that you lust after. I drove an 87 that belonged to my in laws a few times back in.... 89 and 90. Fast fun car that was very nice to drive. I would love to get one for a daily driver now. Comfortable, fast, decent economy. I'll probably end up with a turbo T-type some day because of the price of the GN.
Thats what im looking into buying late in late November/December. If I cant find a reasonably priced GN. I was proud to be whooped up on by the GN. Even took a video
I've thought about dropping the 350 from the lark into some RWD import if I could find one. and just drop some jaws I wouldn't want to do that to a GN engine though drop it in a hatch! lol.
Yea dropping a few tons is a sure fire cure Have had many searious thought of getting an 80 eco box rustang to drop my 350 into just to prove the point that anything can go fast in one of them bread boxes. And just annoy the heck out of them blue oval fans when they get excited n ask about my fast car and why its say BUFORD on the front windshield.
A buford is a Ford with buick power.... Which is the next set up I have planed for my 85 Ford p/u.... but back to the kill..... Sometimes it is actually fun to lose a race,,,, I once ran against a 2000hp 1948 Anglia with my little stock 64 skylark.... they gave me a nine second head start on him because of the class difference.... i had the glass down just a crack and heard him when he left the line.... I looked in the mirror and the sight of the supercharged nitro burning car coming at me with the white flames coming out of the exhaust was awsome.... I moved way over.... He blew by me right at the finish line and barely did get me.... but it was an awesome experience for me....
Last year at an 1/8 mile test n tune they lined me up with this guy. The starter asked if I was ok lining up with him and I said sure but when the lights came down and he launched it scared the hell out of me. You can see his exhaust coming out of the front fender. Loud as a mother. Very distracting.
oh man, i bet that was fun! everytime I go to the track I get lined with some insanely faster car than me never won a race @ the track. But if I run tonight, we'll see what happens.
