I finished installing my intake tonight adjusted timing an carb floats and check for leaks. So i took her for a quick ride butt dyno likes the way it pulls. Bring it up to 3500 an nail it power comes on fast shift into L2 back tires let out a bark. Did a launch spun the tires through first an second had to let out of it got way to loose. I don't remember the stage 1 doing this i do run drag radials out back. I don't know if its me but the engine seems to run smoother at idle. IMO I'll say Mike at TA you did a wonderful job with this intake an thanks, this is what our 350's needed. Walter
Cool Walt! Bet that SP3 really loves those 410's out back too.:Brow: How's the rpm drop when shifting compared to the dual?
Walt, Thanks for your update. glad to hear the intake is working well. I noticed your running an 850 QF. Any issues with it. I am currently running a 750 SS QFT. I am considering the larger carb.
Sounds VERY encouraging:TU: Im really curious if ANY dual plane (factory iron, Stage 1, or Postons) was choking the 350:eek2:
YES! have been saying this for a long time and have proved, but everybody seems to be deaf here.:spank:
Johnny, I heard the same thing. When I had my heads ported, I was told I would never reach the potential with a dual plane intake. I currently have TA's dual plane with the center divider milled down slightly to get a little more airflow. I should have the SP3 on next weekend and I am curious if I will feel the seat of the pants difference.
Phil i have had no problems with this carb ran good out of the box all my plugs are a nice tan color. Mart next time i take her out for a spin i'll watch the tach i don't think it was a lot. The 4.10s really help the motor spin up fast not a great highway car. Mark i would say the dual plane is restrictive
John been very busy at home an work the wife honey dew list is long took me three days to make my intake manifold bolts out of stainless. Justin the only hiccups were where the heater hose connects to the manifold it got in the way of the dual feed line to the carb used a 45 elbow still a tight fit. Also the vacuum nipple for the trans had to use 90 elbow because of the dual feed line only a minor set back
Use the water port at the rear of the intake looks much cleaner and obviously will solve the clearance issue
I'll have to monitor that. Don't think I was any over that with the dual. But we have very different roller cams. Plan on doing a few track runs with dual 1st, then make the swap. Always crap to do. Wedding today, would have hit local track.
Don't feel Bad I am having the same trouble. Rain, Funeral, overtime on weekends, I thought summer was supposed to be for fun. I really missed out on the Super Summit Demko went to, if I would have known about it I would have gone there. I could have ran on the road course to see how good my handling package works. Need a shakedown, been five years now.
It was discussed a page or two back, you still need something to keep the PCV valve from siphoning oil out of the valley. Either the stock valley pan, the AM&P pan, or a PCV baffle. I'd use one of the first two options as they keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake. That might be beneficial even with the air gap style of intake.
