I did a bad thing apparently by asking for information on a Chevelle big block I own and got hammered by a member in a PM. Just wanted to say sorry but it was a big block plug and wiring question that I was looking for help with. This site has some great minds and I was/am frustrated with my issue and appreciate the input from the board. I dleeted the post after it went south! Thanks Larry!!
There is no rule for posting non-Buick questions here. The question was perfectly fine for this board...post away!
Whoever hammered you via pm needs to take a pill, Silliest thing I have ever heard of, and if I deleted every non buick post on the board, I would do little else in a day. You have nothing to apologize for. The apology needs to come to you, from whoever sent that PM. JW
I can't imagine why anyone would object to your thread Steve. I see non Buick threads all the time. It isn't like you are putting a BBC in a Buick. I never realized that BBC headers could block your access to spark plugs.
Steve, You should repost the thread in "The Other Bench" There will probably be more Chevy guys there. I would be curious to see their advice.
Ok then here is a question . it looks like I might have to take off the headers to gain access and do things right. Any recommendations for new wires for my car that have heat shields at the boots and have the the bends for headers on the 70 396? I am currently using an MSD 85551 ignition system with their cap and rotor. Also what would be the shorty version of AC Delco R44TS plugs. If possible please provide part numbers for recommendations so I don't screw up. Thanks!
What headers? You may have to massage the tube or tubes. I use the 180 degree wires w heat shields. Never burned another wire. Cylinder 6 is main culprit for me.
G someone was a little uptight it's not like you said Chevrolets are better than Buick's that was a really harmless question about your spark plug wires I would've told him to go pound sand.
I didn't ask Steve to reveal exactly who it was. I wouldn't put it past someone to join and then try to throw a grenade here so to speak.
You need the summit headers plenty of clearance. Since that is more than is needed get a set of ceramic spark plug wires. The spark plug end is made of ceramic and don't melt, a little brittle so you have to be a little more careful when putting them on. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...MIzMrWyLSw7QIVYsyzCh2QQw08EAQYASABEgIuffD_BwE
