What color combo is he doing on the engine? Dark blue block with aluminum/silver head and exhaust manifold?
That chrome valve cover is gonna look sweet, but I kinda thought youd keep it in the family and build an OHC head for it. THAT would be cool! ws
Not sure yet We have some left over blue and silver laying around might mix up something next weekend and see what we come up with Bill I do want to stick a cammer in there one day but for now it's all good Looks like it was rebuilt not along ago No crude inside so we scored
Yeh I like the color combo you guys did on the dash, that would look sweet on the engine with a touch of some chrome pieces like the valve cover, alternator and some pullies.
Your son is very lucky to be spending quality time with his old man and won’t hopefully realize it for a long time to come. These threads are awesome but bittersweet for me. I remember working with my dad from a young age learning to hold a trouble light just right, and figuring out what thingamajigs and whatchamacallets were to hand to my dad. My dad helped me get into Buick’s and I still have his last car a 69 riv that we were supposed to fix together. He got sick when I was 17 and passed a few months before I was 18. I miss just spending time in the garage with him and hold those memories tight. On a happy note the riv moved under its own steam for the first time today in 23 years...
Not to side track the thread but on a side note there's a 68 Riv parts car out your way if you need stuff. PM me if you want the link for it.
Thanks for the kind words Man that's a tuff one to lose pops at that age bud. I started working on cars with my dad at 17 as well he is still around today thank God and we do have a blast and good laughs while turning a wrench I love it.
Bummer Joe! I reached the end of this story for now. My wife is driving us back to Florida and this thread kept me looking down at my phone instead of out the window and seeing her driving. LMAO!!! Keep on trucking Joe and Rocky!!!
Looking good Joe! The Sprint motor brings back memories. I had a 66 Tempest Sprint convertible with the OHC 6 and 3 speed stick. Had a cam made for it from Berry Cam, neat car.
Looking awesome! I bet he is having a blast. The wire wheel! Oh man have I been there, just about everything has had the wire wheel except the body and interior
Yes, What a cool ride & I like the family touches you guy's put on it. A great father & son memories in years to come. Just doesn't get any better than that. Good luck with it guys
My son bought a new valve cover I think it was 44 bucks and bought those headers for 74 bucks. Rest of stuff has been cleaned up and painted. Off to home Depot to look for some Allen head bolts .
