    1971 Buick Skylark

    condition: fair
    cylinders: 8 cylinders
    fuel: gas
    title status: clean
    transmission: automatic

Selling my 1971 Buick Skylark, it is not a perfect show car nor am I asking $10k, it is a really fun and excellent running daily driver. I am posting pics of everything that may be of interest. Car has original Buick 350 that was rebuilt about 10 years ago with little mileage since rebuild. Transmission is a TH350 that shifts great. Was originally a 2bbl car but I swapped on a 4 barrel intake along with a stage 2 quadrajet with electric choke built by Quadrajet Power. It is an A/C car but I did not feel like fussing with it and since it was in.the way of changing spark plugs I pulled off the compressor along with the condenser so I could mount an external trans cooler. Rearend ratio is current 3.08 with an open diff, I do have a set of used 4.10 gears that I will include for $50 if interested. Car is equipped with headers (hard to find) and glasspacks along with dumps in front of rear tires with no crossover so it is loud but sounds great! Car has never overheated on me, runs strong, shifts great, cruises amazingly well, tracks straight and stops well. Floor pans in excellent shape.

    Downsides
Has some rust in rear quarters and the front passenger side appears to have hit a post as it is pushed in. Front of car is primered. Front seats are ugly and passenger seat is barely mounted. Headliner while in good condition has came apart at seams (pictured).

Things I have added or changed

    - installed used header but in good condition

    - new master cylinder

    - new front drums (shoes were in good condition still)

    - rebuilt stage 2 quadrajet by quadrajet power

    - swapped on 4bbl intake that I had cut the front and rear dividers out of (look it up on Buickpower, makes a decent difference)

    - recurved distributor to have all timing in before 3000 rpm

    - previous owner installed a points eliminator kit

    - only run Valvoline VR1 10w30 oil

    - changed trans filter about 500 miles ago

    - brand new wheels and tires with less than 300 miles on them

    - installed gauge pod (pictured) with AEM wideband O2 sensor and copper oil pressure line

    - installed tachometer on steering column

It's a really fun car and I hate to see it go. Please don't waste my time, serious inquiries only. 509-three88-four2four2 texting works best for me.

I saw the license plate and thought it read “BEAT219” so it actually made sense that it was a beater.

Yeah, BUT he's only asking $3750.00 for it. I'm sure you could talk him down if he REALLY wants a sale. In parts alone it could be worth that amount. I'd drive it for a couple years & have fun with it then sell it OR part it out. To bad it's so far away or I'm sure Jason would be on it & wait awhile & offer him MAYBE 1K. As time goes on parts are becoming harder to find & good parts will go up in $$$$.

    Lol I thought that too!
    Should read “Beat26ft”lol
I’d still drive it like I stole it If was around here!

It’s a cheap entry level car that a guy could work on a little bit at a time. Yeah it has some rust but I’ve seen much worse saved. Just sayin’.

I wouldn't change a thing on it. Shopping cart in the way? No problem, just bump it.....ok, I'd change the seats.

I can't see it parting out for even close to what he's asking. There are some good body parts but the interior looks pretty much worthless. And try and sell a 350 Buick engine these days. I have a couple I can't seem to give away, one with low miles. Another that will probably end up going for scrap. The 8.5" rear would bring something but the TH350, not so much. To me it looks like a driver or a fixer upper at an entry level price.

I wish every CL ad was as well written and informative - I like the seller already :_) And he has actual pictures...taken during daylight hours. You could clean it up with a cheap paint job (and some seats!) and have as much fun as a guy with a fully restored car. People will still wave at you at the stop light and tell you their high school stories (with a wink thrown in). It just needs the right owner with the right expectations.
