    WD-40 DERUSTING juice AND disassembly and cleaning a rusty/dirty Jacobs chuck from a lathe/drill press... ws

    Didn't watch all of it but saw enough, that stuff works!
    I would have thought it was yard art too...

    But I wonder what kind of run-out there is with the jaws all pitted like they are.

    Still, pretty impressive!

    Jim.... I think for a lathe drilling a center hole should be adequate. A drill press with a pilot hole would suffice. That chuck opens 3/4" . Cant be any worse than a sawzall for barbaric demolition work! The post was directed at the WD40 de-ruster and showing how to dis-assemble a jacobs chuck. Ive had mine apart for good cleaning and they are usually packed with trash, just rendering therm "frozen". ws

    Very true.

    Gotta remember about the WD40 deruster juice.

    I've seen a chuck disassembled once, but have never done it myself. The split(cracked?) race is very interesting.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Might have to keep on the lookout for rusted stuff now instead of looking past them.
