I like to do some traveling and some money racing, not so much an every week points guys any more.

so here are a few races that have a decent payout for entry fee.

I will add more to these as I find out. others please feel free to share other events in your area here as well, sometime tracks not too far away but on events that others just dont know even exsist.

sure be nice to see of few other buicks at these as alot of times I'm the only one

I do know the Norwalk event in sept is limited to only 425 entries so it will fill up fast.

Are these true footbrake? (no transbrake)

Around here the guys with transbrakes are cutting almost as good lights as delay boxers...tough to compete with
Ran a couple big money races last year and got put on the trailer at one with my .019 and dead on.
Final run last season the guy had a .000 light on me.
    I'll keep plugging away though.....

I heard that Capitol Raceway decided to eliminate their No Box- Footbrake Only class last year and were promptly fined by IHRA. Something deep in the sanctioning regs that requires a footbrake class?!?!
I guess there's still a large number of no-box footbrake drivers out there,
    but we're a dying breed!

Phil, they seem to have more footbrake races listed this coming season. Still box class pays 3 times as much.

They were doing some $5000 to win guaranteed races ALL run together that had big turnouts. That's what caused the problem with IHRA.
Then they had the box and no-box people separated as many rounds as possible. They also tried keeping dragsters and door cars separate.

Evolution, I guess. I wish there were no boxes ever in the first place. Race with your gut....a finger on a microswitch controlling a 2-step and transbrake will always be sharper than a foot farther away from my brain moving a gas pedal controlling a mushy torque converter.

most events are no box. there are a few true foot brake events around.

I too added a transbrake a few years ago for that very reason. Not to launch harder, but I noticed as other foot brake racers will tell you every track is slightly different in the beam, roll out etc. but effect reaction time, and instead of me changing my launch spot, or taking an extra bump in, I found it easier and quicker to just have an adjustable buttom.

if I in time run am 10 or 15 under where I want, I just turn it in.

I dont like it but is what is. found a place making a forward shift setup so I can keep my column shift at least.

one thing I did years ago was compile a loss sheet. i took ever run from the previous year and figured out what not only was my average light, hot only what was the other racers average light, but what light I need to win or lose the race. then took that average also.

as a racer we always remember the loss that was a perfect light and dead on 2 that beat us........but we forget to play the laws of average...if we try to be double 0 out the back with a 2 we are going to go red more and break out more. I found for me if I play to best average and if I get a guy that goes perfect nothing I can do about that.

if I can be 10-15 every pass I know my car will do its job if some sneaks in there then it happens.

Yeah Bruce, it’s becoming more like a Nostalgia class.

I'll keep doing my thing without the gadgets. I lost in final last year to the guy at US13 that was in 1st in points championship. I had him on the tree but couldn't see him so I thought he was in my blindspot (I was in left lane) but he broke right after 60ft....and I ran out! Fortunately he asked to split before so I got a good chunk of $$$. ($900/$600)
It's always a good feeling when #1 guy asks to split and I wasn't even in the points....

ppl splitting around here is almost unheard of, ppl are greedy, take the Norwalk event for example, there is 40k going out between the top 8 ppl, if they would even split that 5k each.....they would never think of it.......sad thing is that mean 6 ppl are now going home with less

Another event coming up this weekend. This isn't huge money, but it's at a nice little track. This is often the last race for us and this track very often provided our quickest times of the year.
