Spent a little time on the car today, got the fuel cell installed. Still need to get a couple of -8 caps to close off the two fittings I'm not using. The cell came with a roll-over vent already installed. I just made up a line and vented it through the trunk floor.. Still need to finish the wire harness to the fuel pump, then thats all done at the back of the car..

Installed the carb and the engine diaper today. The diaper fit a lot better than I thought it would. I bolted the two front straps to the lower holes in the front of the head. The rear two I used the outside starter bolt on the pass. side. On the drivers side I used the bolt hole in the side of the block for the clutch z bar ball. To keep the diaper away from the balancer and steering linkage I made two brackets that I bolted on with the two oil pan bolts that screw into the timing cover.. Doing it this way kept the diaper away from the headers so no worries about burning the straps..It all worked out real neat and the diaper is tucked up nice and tight..

Tyler Northcutt Just an old pile of parts

Sweet! I am going to need to get a diaper sometime.

What do you do when you need to change the oil?

The calipers weight 2.4 pounds each.. the stock calipers weight 6.8 lbs each.. That is a 8.8 pound loss. If you get these calipers you will have to get new brake hoses cause the fitting on the caliper is 1/8 27 NPT so the stock hose with a banjo bolt will no longer work.
Changing the oil is not that bad, the straps that hold diaper on release easy and to get to the drain plug I only have to undo the drivers side rear strap, the oil filter being on the timing cover is not effected by the diaper..

The brake hoses almost turned into a issue.. I called Wilwood they gave me part numbers to order.. I went on line to their website and they have good pictures to go with their parts. But, there was no way the numbers they gave me were going to work.. So I called them back.. This time they gave me part numbers for adaptors to "make it work"... I wasn't very happy with all that so I took a ride to my local speed shop and bang.. the guy looks at the caliper and says " you need this , this and this, pulling parts from the wall.. I took these parts home and within 1/2 hour I was bleeding brakes.. If you have a good speed shop in your town they can set you up with the hoses real easy..

Here is a update on the calipers... I don't know why but... After installing these caliper I lost a bunch of stopping power.. I had a great pedal, no air in system. But for some reason the car got a lot harder to stop. And trying to pump the pedal and hold the car with the line lock for a burn out.. Forget it..It would push right through the brakes and front tires would roll.. I installed a vacuum brake booster and now it stops fine and can hold with the line lock.. I ordered a booster and master cylinder for a 1987 Monte Carlo SS and just to make sure all the geometry was correct I got a pedal with the hanger from a 87 Monte Carlo in the junk yard ($20.00).

Why a booster and master cylinder for a monte ss? and also do you have the part # for the calipers Thanks

There was two power brake boosters listed , one with a dual diaphram and one single diaphram.. In the A-1 Cardone book the dual unit came with a steel master cylinder and the weight was stated at 22 lbs. . The single unit listed a aluminum master cylinder and the weight was stated at 8 lbs..
when I looked at the most common listed car for the single unit it was a Monte Carlo.. The A-1 Cardone part number for the master cylinder / booster is 50-9074 ... The caliper part number from Wilwood is 120-7197 , I ordered them from Jegs and Jegs puts a 950 in front of the number... 950-120-7197.. they are the same number left and right.. And they do not take the stock banjo fitting, you have to get steel braided line and adaptors to 1/8 27 NPT.. My local speed shop set me up with the lines.
