Hello. I am the 3rd owner and purchased this car in Iowa in 2006 from Mark Lob. My brother and I flew out and drove the car back to Cleveland Ohio. I did some work to the motor including the Moon eyes valve covers, and the Edelbrock carburetor it had the factory Rochester on it when I bought it . I also installed the chrome alternator, close ratio power steering, as well as the interior console, buckets (had the bench when I got it but Mark gave me the buckets too), sun gauges, NOS clock, Buick floor mats, seat belts and tilt column. I had stripped the interior out and sealed the floor with rust inhibitor before installing new carpet. I still have the paperwork that mark gave to me as well as the receipts from all the parts that I installed on the car. I moved to Texas in 2011 and the car stayed in Ohio in my sons garage until I sold it to a dealer in Wisconsin in 2013.
Matt, THANK YOU for the reply. You're the missing link! I was looking for a '63-'63 Pontiac GP when I came across the LeSabre on the H.A.M.B. at Top Notch Vehicles in Jefferson, WI. After grilling the dealer for several days, we put together a deal. My wife and I flew from PHX to Milwaukee and their lot guy picked us up at the airport. We were pretty impressed by the car. The dealer didn't know much about it (he said) other than: "...somebody spent a lot of $$ on it..". That was evident by its condition. We paid the man, got in and drove to Chicago and the Drake Hotel where we began our Route 66 end-to-end adventure. That was April of 2014. We took two weeks to get to Winslow, Arizona and had not one bit of trouble with the car en route. The only thing we did was to replace the H78-15 spare with a new radial for the trip. On christmas day 2014, we jumped in the Buick and drove to Santa Monica, CA to complete the Route. This has been a very reliable car, doesn't use oil, rides like a living room, runs like a locomotive. I installed Scarebird's front disk brake kit using all NAPA's best parts and a new booster and master cylinder from Booster Dewey. Now the beast actually stops. I also put in a radiator, shroud, 5 blade clutch fan and smaller pulleys from a '62 A/C LeSabre. Now it runs cool cool in the Arizona heat and pulling up the mountains. I replaced the Sun Amp gauge that wasn't functional with a matching volt gauge. You can see it pop from 12 to 14 volts when the alternator kicks in. New brakes all around, new springs up front, new ball joints and control arm bushings, new Gabriel shocks all around. Here's testimony of three consecutive owners who have loved and cared for this Buick. The dealer in WI never re-registered it and gave me the title you gave him. Somebody is going to get a HELLUVA nice car cheap and a time capsule to boot. If this were a Chevy, I'd have sold it 30 times by now. I just don't get it. They made less than 27,000 '63 2-door sport coupe LeSabres and I'll be they made 450,000 of the impala/bel air in that same year. We've had a ball in this car. Would love to see some pics of the '67 Grand Prix, that was a quite unique year for that car. That's the one that kind of looks like an old Mopar car isn't it? Just because you sold your Buick doesn't mean you have to leave V8, we still have the "the other bench" here to post about the foreign cars(non-Buick). Post some pics there. Derek
Hey Matt, the LeSabre will be headed to Texas, outside of Amarillo. The buyer graduated high school in '72 and his first car out of school was a '63 LeSabre, a white sport coupe. He's pretty excited. First place its going is to a Vintage Air installer.... I'd really like to get your receipts for this car to keep with the file.
