About no more beater upgrades! I picked up a set of sweet, old school Audiovox 8 ohm 6x9 speakers complete with vintage grilles off Craigslist. I loves me my mini scores, so lets call this a micro score! $15! And they work! They're going to fill in the holes in the package shelf. Tired of looking at them!

So the seller was an older guy. Turns out he grew up in the same town as me and graduated from the same high school but class of 63! Im class of 85. Nice guy, name was Ted. He's a retired welder who worked in the city.

On an unrelated note, he told me a story that I found interesting. Let me preface this by saying this isn't meant to be political and please don't turn it into a political thread....

I noticed a lawn sign from the 2016 election in a corner. I commented, "hey, nice sign!". He told me that he actually met Trump. I kinda looked at him funny. He said years ago he was up on a scaffold welding in a building when he noticed a guy in a suit walk in with a cup of coffee in his hand talking to the foreman of the job site. Naturally, being a working class NY guy, he yells down, "hey, where's my [expletive] coffee??!!". If you met the guy, you can totally see him saying something like that too:D. The guy in the suit looked up and didn't say anything. His co-worker on the scaffold hits him and says, "shut up!! That's the guy that owns the building, that's Donald Trump!!". Forty five minutes later he says Trump shows back up with a cart full of coffee and donuts for every worker in the building. Trump yells up to the scaffold and says, "come on down and have a cup of coffee with me". So he did. Said he was a very down to earth guy. I thought that was a pretty cool story.

Nice score! Always cool talking to "old" guys and listening to their stories. You always know it's not b.s. Now where are the 6x9 pics?

Radio Shack was a cool store back in the day!
Heck, if you needed a resistor, capacitor, tube, or a diamond stylus for your record player Radio Shack had it:D
I remember Gray Drugs had a TUBE TESTER by their front doors, it was always a treat going with my Dad to "test the tubes"

Yep! Im pretty sure they sold "Speco" brand speakers. I have a Radio Shack speaker in the green Riviera I bought when I was in high school too along with a Realistic under dash cassette deck. Anyone have a good mix tape?? :D:D

Back in the day, Radio Shack was a real hard core electronics store.

I also have a box of 70’s-80’s era stereo equipment. Going off of memory a pair of Jensen 6x9 speakers and an Audiovox equalizer. Some brand of under dash 8-track player and maybe, just maybe, a pair of Pioneer 6x9’s - those were what we had to have. Mark

I bought my first underdash 8-Track tape player at Radio Shack. It was a Sanyo with the slide-out mount. I put it in my first car, a '66 Dodge Dart. This would have been in 1976. I still have some of my 8-Track tapes from back then - Kiss, Ted Nugent, Nazareth, Aerosmith, Queen, etc...

I had a '68 Dodge Dart 4 door, slant 6, 3 speed on the column in 1976. My first car. I installed an under dash 8 track too. Got a nifty switch from Radio Shack that let me use the rear deck speakers on the factory radio or the 8 track. Then remember JC Whitney? Got a floorshifter conversion kit from them for it. I could row them gears! HaHa

I knew the beater enhancements weren’t finished. I’m sure that the car will be repainted with a new interior somewhere down the road. It is going to happen!
