Mikey... Rants make you feel good, but not as good as vengeance! Try the 3/4" black painted plywood with 4 inch wood deck screws pointed "UP". I did that on the south side of chicago by the old boat yard. There was a HUGE railroad concrete wall that me and a pal painted with 4 foot tall letters; "NO WAKE ZONE". Next day it was all tagged to hell. That night came out the 2x2" squares with a drywall screw in each one buried in the stones. All the gangsters were doing the Texas two step and screaming to HIGH HEAVEN. Me and my pal laughed our combined arses off. BTW, those had to be unscrewed from the feetses.:eek: Your good ol' boys get free tires? ;) ws

I have neighbour who lives across the street from me. He owns a late model jeep grand cherokee rt. (hemi 5.7). Last summer he removed the mufflers and now has a pair of straight pipes. Sounds good to me but my wife calls him an imbecile!

Here in Windsor, if u drive your "hog" (harley) with no mufflers, u will NOT get a ticket for noise unless u are acting like an idiot..

Straight pipes? Around here they just cut it off at the manifolds.

There's a guy who lives nearby with a Corvette with the four tailpipe setup. The street he lives on is straight as an arrow and a half-mile long. He can't resist punching it when he turns onto the street . The car goes pretty good, but has a terrible exhaust sound - not overly loud, just not nice. If I owned the cat I would do something about that.

I agree! I think the new Vettes sound terrible.

Man I'm glad you guys think so, too. Everybody I work with loves them and the new Camaro exhaust. I think they sound terrible, "raspy" is the word, not deep and soulful like a V8 should. Try explaining to a bunch of guys that just love whatever Chevy puts out that loud is not necessarily good, and it's amazing to see the blank stares looking back at me.... and it's not a product of the engine architecture, as I've heard some good sounding aftermarket systems on them. And funny enough, the aftermarket stuff is as quiet or quieter than the factory blow horns.

I think most all of the new muscle cars have a variable exhaust and the raspy sound is due to the exhaust valve before the rear muffler. I know that's the case with the Scatpack. I'd like to delete mine but as I understand it, you have to get a tune to keep the check engine light off.

Corvettes have the changeover valve in the muffler.....The way they sound is the way Chevrolet wants them to sound. I actually watched a video on the engineering that goes into them. For some reason, they think it sounds good the way they are. Almost all my technicians, sales people, and other co-workers agree, so they must know what the public wants. Sounds like a Flowmaster that broke all the baffles out of it and it's just a hollow chamber to me. The 5.0 Mustangs can sound good, too, but most people just want to make them loud, and I think 99% of them that I hear driving around sound like crap. But, that's just my opinion, and it's worth about a buck o' five :)
