Just spoke to my neighbor who is 90 years old and he is an astrophysicist . Eugene Parker is going to have a satellite named after him that will travel to explore the sun. According to NASA, This is the first time a satellite is named after a living individual. Pretty cool. I guess I will / should brush up on my astronomy before we talk again. Very impressive write up on the NASA website on this upcoming space launch. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.
That's pretty awesome. I just did a google search on his name, expecting maybe a hit or two, and was shocked to see all the articles and things he has done. Very impressive! Opportunities to learn from people like him are rare. I'd be over talking to him as much as possible. I had an uncle who dropped out of high school, joined the Marines, and fought in WWII. When he came home, he had a hard time finding a job (other than factory line worker) with his education level. He somehow got IBM to hire him, then NASA eventually picked him out of there to write code for the lunar landing mission in '69. I sure wish I could have talked with him more.
Well, The Parker solar probe launched yesterday from Cape Canaveral. Glad he saw the launch. He lives a few hills/ dunes behind me. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan
To bad he's not around anymore because nasa supposedly "lost" the technology to even go back to the moon! After all the Nazi scientists that formed nasa died off, they don't know what the flock they're doing over there, that's why they have Disney to animate space for them!
The Parker Moon probe supposedly will eventually be the fastest man-made object in history. At some point it is supposed to reach 400,000 mph. That number is not a mistake.
