Well, I set the timing and dwell, and it starts and idles nicely with a minimum of rocker ticking. I had been playing a bit around the neighborhood for about a week, to be close to home, then drove it for a 1/2 mile down I30 to run it through the gears. Although the window sticker doesn't mention optional rear gears, it sure felt like it was revving to hit 65. I wonder if the speedo gear was changed, as the speedo seems to read high at low speeds, and doesn't bounce. I took it to the office today to put some city driving on it, and it performed like a champ.I accidently started in 3rd, and it took off smoothly. I only realized what I'd done when I didn't have to shift till I hit 40. I sure missed driving a 4speed! It revs up quickly and hasn't hiccupped since I set the timing. I'll be taking it in for inspection this week. If it passes, I will drive over to Dallas to see if my welder can patch the frame. I've got a spare GS that will probably end up donating its frame, but I don't have the space to do it for at least another year. I sure wish I had a decent garage. Time to talk to my friendly banker and zoning board.
