Need recommendations for a new set of shocks on my '71 Skylark. 350/350 car, used only for occasional street driving. Most miles put on the car over a Summer are about 500. Looking for smooth & comfortable. Car is stock including ride height & drive train. Not sure what's on it now. They are white, without a name & almost new. Not happy, think they could be a bit smoother.
Heard a few good things about Munroe gas shocks, opinions welcome.

I'll look for the KYB. Not sure what's available locally. It's been well over 20 years since I've purchased shocks over the counter.

since u are a canuck, go to canadian tire and buy a set of heavy duty gas shocks. that is what i use in my gs & i am satisfied. i think that monroe makes them. i merely painted them the correct gray colour before installation.

Installed a set of AC Delco gas shocks this morning. Very noticeable change in the ride of the car. Still a bit choppy, compared to a new car, but much smoother than it was.

Monroe Sensa-Trac - they go on sale often, even at Sears. I think I got mine at Advanced Auto for $22 each. They ride good (gas shock) and will stiffen up when pressed:
"The Monroe Sensa-Trac passenger car shock absorber with PSD (position sensitive damping) and the Safe Tech system combines our exclusive precision tapered grooves in the pressure tube with application engineered valving and Fluon banded piston to improve the ride, handling, and safety characteristics of the vehicle.
These features allow the Monroe Sensa-Trac passenger car shock absorber to adjust more rapidly to changing road and weight conditions than any other available shock absorber."
