I never get over how large that cam sounds with the side dump exhausts. It sounds like you're rolling an oil drum down a hill
I wish you could hear it in person john it's definitely a lumpy cam. In the spring I'm going to get my wife to record the sound when I'm getting on it, she gets louder!
Not much lope with this setup but this was my 72 Skylark 350 with a 212/212 @.050 113lsa roller cam. Here is another very mild idle. I have no idea what cam is in this engine but it has to be something more than stock to run 14.0 on 215mm wide tires.
I worked on a guy's carb once gave it back and he said it didn't sound like it had much of a cam anymore. Seemed kinda dissapointed.... Had to drill holes in throttle plates to get it off the transition slots. Point being....some times the setup (ign advance and carb idle circuit) make it sound like a big cam. See it at car shows a lot since most of them are not tuners or they would be at the track!
I had a '69 SS396 Chevelle back in the 80's with a Model 1850 Holley 600CFM carb. The choke was not hooked up and I really didn't need it. It would start in any weather but until it warmed up, it sounded like it had a huge cam in it. It had a wicked idle. The guy at the local service station would ask me what cam I had in it and I would say it was the stock 325hp cam. He would smile and say "Yeah, right". I never could convince him otherwise. But a few mile down the street, after it warmed up, it would be idling nice & smooth.
Hey, thanks buddy. Apparently my phone doesn't like this website or vice/versa.....Much like Shawn, I've got some 2 1/2" dual chamber Flowmaster knockoffs called Redlines at the very back of the Riv's system for the 401.
